GIGA MUSIC PRODUCTION
Set up by Scottish multi-instrumentalist Gregor Philp in 1997, Giga Music produces a variety of recognisable music for television, film and games.
Working from his production studio in Dundee, where he writes, plays and records everything from start to finish.
Providing 35 songs for the hit pre-school show "Balamory" and the music for the adventure quiz "Spook Squad" (BBC1), Gregor is perhaps best known for his children's TV music.
However, Giga music covers a wide range of entertainment and recent projects include. Leonard, an award winning short film starring Dennis Lawson, Taggart, two 60 min episodes and a feature length film, and Young Adam (with composer David Byrne) a feature film starring Ewan McGregor.
Gregor has recently branched out into the games sector with its most challenging projects to date, composing and recording interactive music, which evolves with the characters and environments, for two PlayStation 2 titles for Midway and Namco.
Gregor comments: "Apart from the creative and production side of the music there has been a heavy technical side as well, with the use of custom built software tools from the developers to create the immersive nature of the music."
With a deep love of music from an early age, Gregor studied all musical genres and was a working musician for 20 years, Gregor now has his own fully equipped 5.1 surround sound production studio.
"I've been composing and recording music for TV and films for over 8 years and I love the challenges it brings with it," he says. "It's particularly satisfying having the chance to work on all styles of music and what I aim for in producing successful TV, game and film projects is just to work really hard till everyone involved is overjoyed (and it's delivered on time!)"
