All are welcome to join the successful TEAM of volunteers here at Rocky’s. Volunteering consists of the following:Working at the shelter organizing and cleaning and socializing the ferrets. Assisting in transporting ferrets for inoculations and medical.Demos: Our most important work is education. We accomplish this in many ways. One is to go to feed and/or pet stores and set up a display of informative booklets and flyers. Many times shelter ferrets or personal ferrets are present at these demos. The ferret being the poster child for the terminally misunderstood pet, getting these guys out there to be viewed and shown is a great communicative device.Adoptathons: Several times a year our volunteers take on the challenge of greeting the public with the intention of educating and placing our ferrets. This is a wonderful experience and is a treasured experience by our volunteers.Bonfires: Often our ferret families and volunteers get together at the shelter site on the farm and enjoy an evening of cooking out and a bonfire. We have had memorable occasions here on the farm.Oktoberfest: (Date to be determined) In October of each year we have a fund raiser in the form of a giant cookout. Live music is played all day long by local musicians and stories of ferrets are eagerly swapped by ferret families.Ferretstock: In the Spring we have an open-house with family activities. Of course good music, good food, good friends, and good times are had by all.
In order to adopt a ferret from Rocky's Ferret Rescue & Shelter, you must go through our adoption process. This process may seem a bit long and in-depth, but we want to be sure we find the perfect home for our ferrets. They've already become homeless once, and we want to make sure their next home is forever. The link below will take you to the Rocky's website where you can read about the adoption process and complete an application. Please make sure you do your homework and decide that a ferret is right for you. A good book to read (Ferret Bible to ferret owners) is Ferrets for Dummies.
Here is a link to the on-line adoption form. Please copy and paste it in your web browser.
