Anuki Anusha, Anuki Kawun" ("I'm Woman, I'm Able") - Nuwaubic

About Me

Welcome to my world!!!
I'm an Optimistic Realist...Right now, I'm just makin' it do what it do.
About me...I love the sun, moon & stars. I love sunrise and sunset. I love all four seasons. I love individuality. I love art. I love patterns and textures. I love all colors. I love beauty. I love family. I love people. I love life. I love death. I love peace. I love me. I love you. I love love.
I'm a native Detroiter who has a lot of dreams, ambitions, and self-expectations. When I look back on the post-year, I like to see that I have either made a change, moved forward, or learned a valuable lesson(good or bad, gotta be able to take them both).
I'm a daydreamer. Everyone who knows me, knows that I'm always into something or up to something, because I don't plan on daydreaming forever. Hence the reason I work so hard to ensure that dreams become reality.
I'm a well rounded person. I've never been too judgemental about people and I get better at that every day. You gotta let folks be themselves and embrace each person as an individual, welcome the differences between you and I. I'm glad that no two people are the same. It makes it more interesting to meet new people, which I love to do.
I got naturally wavy hair. It grows past my shoulders...it WAS beautiful, but I got tired of pressing and curling and wakin' up the next morning tryin' to figure out what to do with it. So I cut it off! "Dang, Medinah, you dun' cut all your hair off"...SO! I got it short and natural...and I still look good. India Arie couldn't have said it better in her song "I am not my hair."
Anyway, I'm learning to get (more) in touch with my spiritual side, (I said spiritual not religous). I've always been a spiritual person, just tryin' to go a little deeper. Alot of years of foolin' around with superficial, wannabe's (which sometimes you are forced to do) henders you sometimes. It's not that you cut everybody off, but you can't let everybody in your circle. You see, I have a Circle of friends...then I have a BOX of Friends. And that's how it has to be. (Don't let me forget the family members that I had to BOX). Those who act like they know me so well, but still can't help but exude negativity in my presence...Those folks are in my BOX. The ones that linger on and on about your not-so-good qualities (which everybody has them), yeah those folks are in my BOX too. The ONES who can't except me for me, don't give a damn if I'm fed or famined, the ones who NEVER or HALF-ASS show me support (by the way, I support all of my CIRCLE and BOX friends), yep, they've been boxed too. My CIRCLE Friends are full of LOVE. They are Open-Minded, Soulfree, Spiritual, Non-Superficial, Aware of what's really goin' on in this land of Milk and Honey, Driven, and most of all SUPPORITVE individuals. I LUV MY PEOPLE!
Shout out to all The Squares, Eastern Stars, The Moors, the Q's, The Muslims, The Nuwabians, the A.E.O.,...Yall know what's up. Spread the knowledge!
To all of my fellow comrades in the cosmetology world...the hairstylists, barbers, make-up artists, nail techs, braid specialists, estheticians, massage therapists, etc., etc., etc.,....
KEEP DOIN' YOUR JOB AND DOIN' IT WELL, KEEP CREATIN', and KEEP PUTTIN' SMILES ON FOLKS FACES!
IF YOU HAVE A FRIEND OR LOVED ONE WHO HAS BEEN IMPRISONED...PLEASE SHOW THEM LOVE AND SUPPORT!

In General...
Anything creative. Creativity inspires me. I like to draw, paint, write, and I've been a hairdresser for the past um-teen years. I'm also a certified Graphic Designer and my mother is a certified Web-designer, together we formed a graphical design company called J.A.M.'S Graphical Designs(specializing in designing websites). Aside from those interests...I'm always interested in making money, or having money in the making.

I'd like to meet:

I love networking. I attend lots of networking events and
my production company, Ordinary People Productions,
host as well as sponsor networking events.
As far as famous people goes, a few passed away already,
but I will name them anyway, along with the ones still breathing...
I'd like to meet Ozzie (RIP) and Ruby D., Luther Vandross (RIP),
Rosa Parks (RIP), Oprah, Tyra, Iman, B. Smith, Latifah,
Macolm X (RIP), M L K Jr. (RIP), Beyonce, Jill Scott, Ericka B.,
Monique, Terry McMillan, Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela,
T.D. Jakes, Farrakan, Muhammad and Layla Ali, Assata Shakur,
Alfeni Shakur, Zane, and more.
Otherwise, I would like to meet business oriented people,
investors, business partners, etc., male or female...
definitely not looking for a mate or anything near it.
Strictly business here, unless you're a personal friend.

My Family & Friends that R.I.P.
My sister, Yolanda U. Smith (1968-2004). Died of uteran cancer. Never knew you could be that strong. I love you my peaceful princess.

Sherry Hill (1959-2004). Sister-in-law. Died of Breast Cancer. She was a straight up soldier.

DeWanda Hill (1977-2005). Daughter of Sherry Hill. Died of natural causes, 6 months after her mother passed away. The thought of her bright smile and hearty laugh still brightens my day.

Corey Hill (1978-2001). Murdered while sitting in his car. Suspect captured and prosecuted. We need men like him around.

Mary Tinnon.(194?-2003) Died of lung cancer. A woman that was as real as real can get.

You've been counted as someone who loves me!

Music:

*Neo-soul, Contemporary Jazz, *Acoustic Soul, *R&B, *Reggae, *Pop, Funk, Rap, Island (Caribbean) Music, Country, really whatever I'm feeling at the time. Oh, I don't particularly care for Heavy Metal or Techno, unless it's mixed up with something else, i.e. 2Pac, Nelly, Jay Z, Run DMC...

Movies:

Not a real movie watcher but everyone should go cop the movie "What the Bleep...Do We Know?"
Plot Synopsis:
"WHAT THE #$*! DO WE KNOW?!"
is a radical departure from convention. It demands a freedom of view and greatness of thought so far unknown, indeed, not even dreamed of since Copernicus. It's a documentary. It's a story. It's mind-blowing special effects. This film plunges you into a world where quantum uncertainty is demonstrated - where neurological processes, and perceptual shifts are engaged and lived by its protagonist - where everything is alive, and reality is changed by every thought.

Television:

Girlfriends, Nip Tuck (my guilty pleasure), BET, CNN, Boxing, Football, Ultimate Fighting, Bob Vila's Home Improvement, Flip this House, Oprah, Maury, Family Feud, Jeopardy, All of Us, 1 vs 100, That's so Raven, Music Videos...
