Going to school I would play beats on the tables everyday while my friendz would freestyle their raps…
In Jamaica it’s IMPOSSIBLE to ignore the love of MUSIK especially REGGAE/ REGGAE DANCEHALL & BOB MARLEY… It’s everywhere you go… In the Taxi’s… Bars… Shops… On every Street and Corner… LOUD AND CLEAR… EVERYDAY 24/7...
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights there would always be a BIG SOUNDSYSTEM playing and you know say mi always have to be there to tek in the LIVE performances from top Deejays and Champion sound Systems… Super Saint… Killer Man Jaro… Adonni… Stone Love always ‘Mash Up Da Place’…
I would be so inspired at the end of the night or early mornings…
In 1999 I moved to the UK to continue fulfilling my Dreamz of making a mark on the world musically and helping my family in Jamaica out of the struggle.
When I was twelve my MOM taught me how to be a hard worker and not to become complacent or else “DAWG NAWM YOUR SUPERâ€â€¦
In 2003 I met my now VERY GOOD SAMARITAN FRIEND/ PRODUCER/ GOD SENT… MR KEEFE WEST. This guy is a genius… He took me to the next level.
So now the “STAGGABAKK†team is growing from strength to strength every day.
STAGGABAKK is a name given to me by a shop keeper in Jamaica… actually… it’s a Sweetie… Every time I had spare change I’d buy this sweet… and most days I wouldn’t have to ask for what I wanted… the shopkeeper (Mrs Johnson) would have them waiting for me on the counter.
And you know… in Jamaica… when you get a name… it’s STUCK…
