Nest - apart from its obvious meaning, the name connotes the mother land, home, heart and spirit. Nest is the name with which A. Achille Zibi (this is his name according to official records) keeps himself closely tied to Africa and his roots. He heralds the message of a culture far removed from our own world - a culture and an earth, besides, from which he himself was sired.
L'unica via e' su is the title of Nest's new album, his second one so far. After the positive feedback caused with his debut album (Il Coscritto - 2005/2006), the young Swiss-Camerounian is on the verge of releasing a new discographic production, brought into existence over the span of two years. L'unica via e' su (in alto i cuori) is, more than anything else, an ode to life and love, an invitation to uplift the spirits and "dance the pain away". Simple yet aspiring, its resonance is fresh, its content mature. Conceived during a time of great change and struggle in Nest's private life, as well as during a time when violencel, intolerance and discrimination seem to be the tenets of the day (was continuosly being fought), this record is almost to be heard as the song of a young swan of the streets who, in the face of attack and disdain by shifting predators, answers the world with song of love that leaves most bewitched and dreamy. With bated breath. For over 15 years, Nest has been one of the few black rappers to sing in the Italian language; there is no doubt of him being the most popular, in both Switzerland and Italy. His diverse cultural, artistic and professional experience have driven him, through this project, to step into worlds of style, language (in this album he communicates in Italian, in French and in English), and musical mediums never before witnessed. Rhythm, experimentation and contamination, social struggle, irony and uplifting messages are the principal ingredients Nest avails himself of. His is a true story, an uncommon and original point of view, and a special story-telling ability and, more importantly, a rare capability of making his audience feel his message.
