What's all this about?
My name is Tourette Syndrome. I'm a nuerological disorder characterized by tics -- involuntary, rapid, sudden movements or vocalizations that occur repeatedly in the same way. I am named after Georges Albert Eduardo Brutus Gilles de la Tourette, who died back in 1904, you can read about him here.
In the media, I am portrayed as 'a cursing disease'. Honestly, not everyone with Tourettes has the vocal tics with profanity, it is called coprolalia and only about 20% of Tourette patients have it. You can read about that, here .
I hope this page educates the uneducated, and gives hope for the patients of Tourette Syndrome. By hope, I am acknowledging the Tourette Syndrome Association. Donations are being accepted! You can see how you can donate, here .
