MPADC is short for Masta Perzy And Dexter Cliff - a highly ironic but loveable homage to lost tapes of 80s old school rap artists. Originally rooted in powerpop and indie for several years, the musical brainchild of Dexter Cliff (real name: Andreas Tursell) gained a couple of years ago an interest to make soul and funk music with his virtuoso trumpet playing friend Masta Perzy (real name: Per Ivarsson)and adopted an ironic badboy touch to the music by using a humorous whiggerz mentality, cheesy "Miami Vice"-style keyboard glissandos and baseball caps to go along with the image.Dexter has released a few 7" records with various bands, Didi & Dexter being the most prominent one. He also plays cornet in the local brass orchestra which recently toured in China. But now he is home again in Malmo where he is working on songs for the MPADC debut album and a solo album. Dexter is heavily into Prince's "When You Were Mine" and Jamie Lidell's "When I Come Back Around" so that is perhaps what you can expect from MPADC in the future! Dexter also was the co-producer of Panache's debut album "The Black Letters", released by Rallye LABEL in May 2005.Perzy lives and studies at the music academy in Karlsruhe, Germany. He is really into jazz, soul and funk. But he plays a lot of classical trumpet pieces as well. Masta Perzy got no limits on how big he will be as a professional soloist. In MPADC he's the funky riff mastermind on keyboards and trumpet. The blue-eyed soul of "Chrissie B." - the song on "Rallye Cloak vol.02" - is a perfect example of how MPADC's love for soul music blends with top chart hit potential. With an organ rhythm that resembles both Bill Withers, The Real Thing and the 80s TV series "Hill Street Blues", the song evolves to a great song with a Style Council soul pop quality, or perhaps even the Paul Weller-produced A Craze (released in Japan on Trattoria Records in the early 90s). Swedish South-side Soul at it's best!Shout to the top!
