We are Disneyland Annual Passholders. Call us spoiled...we usually try to visit the park on Sunday evenings and days when it is not so crowded. We went down tonight, Sunday, September 17th and we were greeted with a huge crowd, lots of strollers and longer-than-usual lines for every ride. We sat down at a bench in front of the castle and watched the crowd roll by and thought... there HAS to be a way to communicate with other Disney-goers and avoid the park on crowded days, especially when in years prior, we did not see this sort of crowding.
I'm a recovering pin-aholic and we had a lovely system of notifying all the other pin-aholics when a pin was being put on the shelves. At any given moment, there was at least one of us at the park. That one would call a few people and those few would call more and so on... 10 minutes later I was ditching my prior engagements to get to Anaheim and get my hands on the aforementioned pin. We have even spent the night on the ground at the Happiest place on earth in a sleeping bag to get a pin... more than once. (And that doesn't even count our DCA opening overnighter... what an experience! I have video footage of that, will share later)
I want this to be a hub where anyone can come and post a comment to relay your park tales of the day. Please let us know what the lines were like, for restaurants and rides, what rides were non-operational and what overall experience you had for the day. Odd experiences or other guest encounters would be fun, too ;) I haven't been to Disneyland during the day in a while, but they used to have a board with the ride wait times listed out. That would be a great barometer for how crowded it is (or if they have the sign at the entrance "Disneyland is very crowded today, please plan your day...)
I'm working on finding a way to easily text message your news or pics in while you are at the park so it will be posted instantly. If anyone has a way to do this, please let me know :) Also, if this idea is a popular one (hey, it could already be out there and I haven't seen it) we may turn it into a website with a calendar and easy-to-update features. Let's see how it turns out! :)
