SevenCycleTheory
Although their songs are strong enough to stand on their own in any format, synth tracks, samples, and bizarre drum loops began as the groundwork of this bands music. Machine sounds, ambiguous collage-style dialogue, and other abstract noises add a sense of surreality to the mix. These things all help to give this music a sometimes gritty and unpolished feel. Joined with double kicks and crashing drums, driving guttural bass, and guitars tuned down to nothing the picture becomes complete. The vocals emerge in the center of this strangely coalescent mix. Aggressive, yet melodic, with thick grainy screams one moment, and memorable up-front melodies the next, you never know what to expect from this bands set - or even in the next section of a song.
These elements all come together to shape this band's sound like nothing else. They’re not exactly ‘metal’, not entirely ‘industrial’, too heavy to be ‘alternative’, more organic than anything in ‘electronica’, and intense enough but too synthetic to be ‘hard-core’. It’s true that many will have a hard time classifying SevenCycleTheory. But instead of sitting in the rut of existing styles, the band is trying to forge ahead with new ideas about life, music, and self-expression.
Even at the peak of their emotionally askew melodies, they are always listenable - and to the point. Both poignant and poetic, the lyrics all have a purpose. They’ll help you visualize a world that most of us don’t even realize we live in. The songs all have an outlook to them-dim, dirty, and dissonant. While not being unnecessarily bleak, they stay imaginative and unabashedly honest.
Deep and personable, SevenCycleTheory taps into places hidden inside us all, as we struggle through this modern day catastrophe that we like to call everyday life...
