audioblacK performs "Forget the Sun" live @ The Linwood in Boston, July 10th, 2003 after winning the WBCN PureRockFury.com contest. Video courtesy of The Entertainment Experiment. In 1995 guitarist Tmill Pillhouse Pillington met Vocalist TD through the formation of P6 with the late, great drummer Dave Rankin (6-Gig, Vampire Lesbos). P6 was a frenetic mix of musical styles which never saw the light of day but planted the seed for what was later to become audioblacK. Fast forward to 1999, Pillington, who never forgot the unique chemistry of the P6 project, tracks down TD to re-open the dialogue of musical experimentation that had begun four years earlier. A style of writing that incorporates metal, industrial, jazz, noise, FX layers and lyrical alchemy, a style which has gone through an evolution of names and descriptions i.e. neurotic metal, psychoactive metal and most recently hallucinogenic metal. In the following months Pillington and TD write feverishly and recruit drummer J2 and original bassist JBeals. On Halloween night 2000 the four of them seal the deal and choose the name audioblacK beginning a four year run, the highlights of which include: releasing a self-titled EP on Beatdown MusicK ( a record label started by the Bangedup?com boys ), winning a PureRockFury.com contest to open for Haste the Day at The Linwood in Boston and shooting the video for "Forget the Sun" at that show ( special thanks to EntertainmentExperiment.com ), winning The Portland Phoenix/FNX "Best Live Act" award and opening for Mudvayne at The State Theatre in Portland, Maine. In the summer of 2005 bassist Jbeals left the band on good terms to pursue other interests while the remaining members got busy writing new music and looking for the new audioblacK bassist. In the Fall of 2005 ( sick-fucking ) bassist Canada LaFrench ( Confusatron, No ) joined audioblacK, kicking the over-all chemistry of the band into high gear. On April 29th, 2006 audioblacK played a propulsive comeback show to a packed Alehouse in Portland, featuring three new songs written with LaFrench and the new sights and sounds of TD's Theremin/Power-Glove combo: an electronic glove/gauntlet which TD uses to trigger samples, strobe lights, and other auditory hallucinations remotely and on the fly ( VERY special thanks to Brian Leone and Joe Paulus ). audioblacK will be releasing a full length album in the near future...
