About Me

I'm terrible at this game... I'd like to think I'm some form of Greek/Germanic God sent here from the heavens to protect, and or infest, the earth; but sadly I seem to lack most godlike qualities. So, lets see... I'm a quarter-century plus one year old, boyish thing, who's trying to get his own Serigraph business off the ground and cuts hair on the side for some extra scratch. I enjoy making and appreciating art and music, putting on shows, and fighting for social justice. I live in a charming, but ghetto old house, with a random I met on Craig's List. I'm an easy-/out-going (that sounds different than I intended) fella, who ponders about spirituality, adores gardening, home repair, cats, and other people's children. I dream of the days when I can live off my work, but until then I'm stuck in the daily grind.

My Interests

Sure I have a few: random adventures - making ridiculous videos, audio, prints, paintings, sculptures and performances - local and world politics - dancing (all kinds) - community radio (www.cfru.ca) - hosting/attending live concerts - loosing myself in a book or three - playing in the on-coming snow - etymology (esp. Pirate words) - ancient Minoans - drumming - singing off-key - robots - road kill - cooking - swimming - knitting - gardening - native plants - meditation - yoga - skiing - day-dreaming - arguing with my grandfather - rabble-rousing - napping with my kitty...

I'd like to meet:

Friends, lovers, countrymen

This list keeps getting bigger and bigger... here's an excerpt: Spy Machine 16 - Prana - Les Georges Leningrad - No Dynamics - You Say Party! Movies:

Again with the lists... Tales from the Gimli Hospital - Saddest Music in the World - Twilight of the Ice Nymphs (actually everything by Guy Maddin) - Way Downtown - Highway 61 - Road Kill - Last Night (mmm Don McKellar) - The Sweet Hereafter - Water - Chungking Express/Chong qing sen lin - Eve & the Fire Horse - The Pinky Violence Collection - Breakfast at Tiffany's - Maltese Falcon - Harold & Maude - Nightmare Before Christmas - Mulan - Mary Poppins - Drop Dead Gorgeous - Mean Girls - Hero - House of Flying Daggers - Plan 9 From Outerspace - Star Wars (the original 3) - Barbarella - Score - Boxing Helena - Ran - The Don - actually anything Bollywood....

Television:

Yea! I get like 8 channels now, 10 on a good day, finally the CBC is one of them! Here are some shows I like: CBC News - Simpsons (shocking!) - Twin Peaks - Little Mosque on the Prairie - Family Guy - Roseanne - Beach Combers - Astro Boy! - Aeon Flux - My So-Called Life - Dead Like Me - Six Feet Under - Oblongs - Jetsons - The Racoons - M*A*S*H - Cheers - Golden Girls - Sex in the City - Iron Chef - The Urban Peasant - The Wedge & City Limits (way back in the day) - Corner Gas - Law and Order (the original) - ...that's a lot for me.

Books:

Actually I'd prefer to list authors. There are too many books, and too many by the same folks. Here we go: Leonard Cohen - Sheila Heti - Yukio Mishima - Haruki Murakami - Frederico Garcia Lorca - Octavio Paz - Guillermo Verdecchia - Dorathy Parker - Henry Miller - Mark Leyner - Katherine Dunn - Milton Acorn - Herman Hesse - Jacques Derrida - Julia Kristeva - Michael Foucault - Jean Baudrillard - Arthur Miller - Eugene Ionescoe - Christian Bök - Rumi - Edward Said - Thomas King - Harlan Ellison - Ray Bradbury - Allen Ginsberg - Willaim S. Burroughs ....

Heroes:

Do people really still have these? I thought they were eliminated in favour of Television and Hollywood icons. Hmmm.... Lets see: Hercules (what a labourer) - Hannibal (oh the gaul; I mean Carthage) - Copernicus (smart lad) - Attila the Huns (Human head polo!) - Caligula (both the emperor & my friend) - Walter Malthus (not the actor guy) - David Suzuki (Crotchity old man & Enviro super guru) - John Cage (made music from nothing and everything) - Leonard Cohen (amazing author & 1 octave singer - come on!) - Kim Gordon (eerily sweet) - Julie Doiron (okay, that's really more of a crush) ...
