I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am an old ex-horse trainer turned RN. I have many interests an old flame/husband and two great daughters. You gotta love those teens! Wonderful people trying to find their way in the world, like flowers budding.I enjoy my friends who are a little off beat, like the chicken/duck lover, x-con - computer genius, tv light addict who lives in the back of her store, and loves a junk collector. The wierder the better. We have some great laughs!I have a head full of useless horse knowledge. I own six of them with my husband along with a few barn cats and a dumb dog. I got an Animal Science degree from UW-River Falls back in the late 70's and trained and showed professionally for many years. Now we just fart around and trail ride. I have one that does stupid pet tricks and looks like Trigger. My old arab mare (25 years) is a volunteer at a therapeutic riding place and has been my personal therapist for years. Everyone's favorite old auntie, that is what she is like. I have owned and lost three wonderful shelties and hope to have another someday. I look forward to seeing all of them at the "rainbow bridge" if there is such a place. And I believe there is.I have worked since 1994 as a nurse in different settings, mostly as a vehicle to support my horse habit. This is also an intellectually stimulating career and I am now back in school again pursuing a higher degree. When my kids are out of the house, I want to do travel nursing, so my husband and I can get out of frigid Minnesota in the winter. Maybe Florida, or Maui would be nice!I have a new hero, Cesar Millan! He should be president! I can understand his thinking like a dog, I think like a horse and have rehabilitated horses and trained people to think like them. I also love dogs and now, through watching Cesar's show and reading his book, I understand more about dogs than ever before. I even had a dream that I visited his family and learned some stuff from him. Cesar, you are the bomb! Your simple way of looking at dogs could be applied to horses and people. What a great theory for rehabilitating prisoners! Prisoners have been rehabilitated through working with horses, how about dogs, too?? I'd love to chat!

My Interests

Horses, camping, the outdoors, leather of all kinds, motorcycle riding, laughing my ass off at anything wierd. I love to sing Karaoke (croaking) I am interested in the afterlife, Karma, reincarnation, Native American history and customs, reading, snuggling with my honey on cold nights. My motto is "Go for the Gusto" We never know which day will be our last.

I'd like to meet:

Other quirky people and quirky horse people. I'd love to find a partner to go on an endurance ride with. I'd like to meet nurses who have experience traveling. I'd also like to reconnect with old friends from high school, Malkerson stable days and Kentucky.

Music:

I love all kinds of music, especially Beatles, Billie Holliday, Eva Cassidy and the soundtrack from the Mambo Kings. I also sing like my two daughters. I also love musicals, especially Camelot.

I just read 90 minutes in Heaven in a Wal-Mart while waiting for my car to get a new battery. By Don Piper, quite a story about dying and coming back. I have heard similar stories from patients. My new favorite is Cesar's Way - Dog Whisperer book. I also like reading about Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn, and some sci-fi (King, Koontz) and occasionally Danielle Steele.

Heroes:

My grandma. My Grandpa. My Dad. Cesar Millan, Bob Enevold. Brian Abrahamson (does anbody know where I can find him??) My great-aunt, Gladys, at age 98 and almost totally blind, she painted pictures that won prizes at the county fair and then were made into greeting cards! She is now 99 and amazing.
