My name is O...I am a multi-instrumentalist specializing in timeless styles, performance, and production. I have been featured in 3 aired MTV music video segments, as well I am a member of SAG.Some of my training includes music/musicology/jazz study at UCLA, chart reading with big bands and study with world-renowned jazz guitarist Phil Upchurch (George Benson, Michael Jackson, et al.). I use only the best gear (Marshall, Bogner, PRS, Fender, Gibson) and I have worked with artists on label or development deals for 3 major labels thus far. Most recently I have placed vocals for dance tracks scheduled for release thru Universal (Europe).I have performed internationally (Europe, Asia) in assorted Rock, Reggae, Top 40, Country, & Blues bands and Jazz combos. Additionally, you will find I am a strong vocalist/backing vocalist quite comfortable with playing and singing. I am versatile enough to perform in tributes covering such diverse artists as Robert Plant, Prince, and most recently as vocalist and guitarist for an R&B/Dance/Top 40 group called Hindite (featuring a 60 song set), and as the frontman for Foreigner tribute band The Jukebox Heroes, covering the sound of Lou Gramm - among some unique notables. When listening to the samples, do bear in mind I have written, produced and performed them from top to bottom. Each piece is a small sampling of work I have done, and I do retain samples of work I have done with other artists. I have limited them to 4 simple samples that will show a range of playing, writing, and production skills. You will find I am highly proficient as a vocalist, guitarist, bassist and vocalist/lyricist.Also, bare in mind that I have experience with Pro Tools, Logic, Reason, and many of the associated hardware and software plug-ins you would see in a major studio. Additionally, I have studied theory in jazz studies programs.Should you need samples for Heavy Metal, Dance, Reggae, or have any questions, feel free to contact me. It is likely I have MP3s that would satisfy your requests. Other artists I have worked with are available upon request.Commentary on Olin's Music Samples:
Hard Rock Sample - Features strong rock vocals just shy of the Heavy Metal realm. Performed alongside renowned drummer Jimmy D'Anda. I can also perform metal styles quite proficiently.RnB Sample - a "Spanglish" tune featuring classic MPC drum tones and 3 part vocal harmony. Also contains "Santana" inspired guitar work.
Roots Sample - Features Lenny Kravitz inspired 3 part harmony, and a rock n' roll version of a Prince-style falsetto at the end section. The guitar solo was specifically cut in one single take during the early stages of the song. It has NOT been edited at all.
Dance / Electronica - Featured vocal recently placed with producers in Phunk Foundation, available on the import compilation in the US on Track One Records.
Here's me in the raw playing SOLO ACOUSTIC in NYC
Here's me (Olin) in the video for New Found Glory's "Failure's Not Flattering (What's Your Problem?" (Universal Music Group). I am the dark haired guy trying to "catch them in a cup". It's all green screen tricks - fun stuff! I was also in the "MTV Making the Video" segment for the video.
This is some alternative footage of me with the same R&B Dance Band (as with the video on the left hand side). In the left hand side video I sing lead on one tune - "Kiss" by Prince. In this video below, I am singing background and playing guitar, and it features some Pussycat Dolls and R. Kelly numbers.
