Reekoh began following music at a very early age. His mother was a huge fan of the Florida Freestyle craze that swept Miami in the 80's and began DJ'ing before Reekoh was even born. Her charisma and musical ability were a force to be reckoned with and her DJ skills ran through the bloodlines, passing on to Reekoh.
Reekoh observed the art of DJ'ing from age 3 on, making it only a matter of time before he picked up the decks himself. In, 2000, he decided to try his hand publicly, grabbing the notice of locals like SoulKid and R2, leading him to be picked up by that crew, breaking in to the scene.
Local legend LoveTribe Productions quickly followed and picked up Reekoh as he continued picking up house and building a following spinning alot of the disco sound he grew up admiring. In 2003, however, he leaned more towards a harder, funkier edge, blending those melodies with a punchy, aggressive house sound that leaned more towards his heritage in Florida Freestyle.
2004 saw the release of his first publicly distributed mix "Cambiar El Juego", prompting the similarly-styled "FunkRock Vol. 2" in 2006. In Winter 2007, the well-received "Everything is Different" was released, hailing a shift from disco influences to a more obscure progressive direction.
Never one to sit around and run a repetitive set, Reekoh's mixes are fused with Electro, Progressive, and straight-up Banging tunes, blurring the lines between breaks/house/progressive. With the HouseWreckin' 206 crew represented alongside locals such as Flave, & Hyperfunk, Reekoh's sets have been known to pump up and fuel huge amounts of energy, with regular appearances at Seattle's renowned Last Supper Club.
After having rocked Canada's PNE Coliseum, and having stretched from Vancouver, B.C. to San Francisco, CA, Reekoh's deep passion for evolving and continuing the music continues to be on public display through his freely distributed mixes as energetic live sets. Teaming with favorite collaborators Cameo and Hyperfunk expect the sounds to further develop.
2007 will see the release of another mix entitled "Deviate From the Plan" as well as the much-anticipated Drum'n'Bass experiment in late summer. Stay tuned there's much more on the way!
