The club was founded in June of 2003 by Joe "Loud" Freedman
a prominent member of the Scottsdale Blues who had moved
north to Cave Creek. The name was chosen due to the nature of Cave Creek and the surrounding area, and the colors were selected after Freedman was driving through town one day and spotted the town sign welcoming people to Cave Creek which was blood red and teal. The orginal club logo was modeled after a horse for the flavor of Cave Creek and at it''s feet was Freedman's faithful dog, Rogie the Chocolate Labrador. By the 2nd year the logo has been changed to it's present cowboy image to again reflect
the fact that we are based out of Cave Creek, Arizona.
The first year was a struggle to get the club going and many people came and went as the club established its "core
membership". The first match ever was a victory over the
ASU "B" side in September, 2003. We played a full fall
schedule in 2003. We went 0-10 as expected with a new
club but again the core was being established and the guys
who stayed had fun and bonded (as well started to learn the great sport of rugby). The second season saw the team records it's first win against the Yuma Sidewinders. It was a hard fought match and ended with the final score 13-12. The team finished 1-9 but played strong and started to establish itself. The third season the team became even stronger, finishing 2-7 but losing 3 games by only a few point margins. The team also won the Plate division in the Thunderbird 7's tournament. This season, the team is geared to fully prove themselves. They are strong, eager and hungry for wins.
