In this new age of hip-hop when you think about Los Angeles, California your mind takes a trip down memory lane to the era of "Gangster Rap". In the early 90's, the West Coast was dubbed the gangster rap capital, with artists such as 2pac, Dr.Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Eazy-E. As the late 90's came to an end so did the West Coast's glamorous future in hip-hop. Welcome to the year 2008, as I introduce you to one of the new faces of Los Angeles. Cashius(Slay) is a sure bet to help resurrect Los Angeles' reputation in hip-hop. For the past few years we have danced hip-hop into the ground with the southern crunk style, and even hip-hop's motherland, New York, has tried to inherit some crunk into their music to try to regain the crown. The underground hip-hop scene in L.A is nothing less than breath taking. If you are not from L.A, then you are probably asking yourself, "Who is this guy?" Cashius Slay, who is currently serving in our armed forces and completing a tour in the middle east, has a style that will make you say, "How did he think of that?" His nonchalant voice and multi-syllable wordplay blended with the smooth mellow beats makes you wonder if the original track could use a remix with his feature. Keep your ears open because Cashius Slay is destined to be one of the West Coasts top emcees in the near future, and if you don't believe that, just ask around.
