HORD

HORD is a band born in southern France in 2002 from the ashes of HomeCreep and Lymloss. Its members are Vince (drums), Styx (lead vocals), Moerty (lead guitar), Fat (sampling and scratch), Kristen (bass) and Luc (guitar). Evolving in a metal core style, they soon decided to produce their first demo, which had some effect in the metal world's audience and was noticed by Stephane Buriez (Loudblast), among others. Seeking originality, HORD locked themselves up, on the purpose of devising their own musical style, under the influences of such bands as Pantera, Strapping Young Lad, Mnemic, Tool, Meshuggah and Fear Factory. As soon as December 2004, the band plays its first concerts, among which a noticeable performance as guest band for the world metal icon : Fear Factory. After a short series of gigs, Hord was noticed by Patrick Liotard (producer and member of PolarBitch) who immediately offered to record Hords first album. Their opening studio work ("Reborn from Chaos") rocks from a powerful metal sound to an eclectism made of several influences (as the oûd, for instance, a Middle-East string instrument), backed up with classical music inspired samples and electronic sounds, a visual universe of cyber and steampunk inspiration, altogether conveying aware lyrics dealing with human hardship, metaphysics and social issues.
