The History: Balance of Silence was originally formed in early 2003 as a side project between Kris and Li to fill the creative gap in their musical developement. The other members of Kris' previous band SLAVESTATE soon joined the collective, and after a few months of creating the strongest music they had ever written, all projects were ended and Balance of Silence was born! With the release of their first EP "The Disillusion" in 2004, BoS started to cause a stir within the midlands and across the UK underground. They continued gigging as much as possible and under the Management of H.I.M. Media, they recieved great reviews in the European press.Balance of Silence and HIM Media parted ways shortly after as it was felt that the work being done was already happening for free with the efforts of the band members. At this time it was felt it was necessary to get some new material out and so in the spring of 2005 the "Forcing Samsara EP" was released among the masses.Feedback was huge from the EP, and with the title track "Forcing Samsara". Balance of Silence grabbed a huge worldwide commited underground following.Myspace was a key publicity tool for the band. With "Forcing Samsara", with its mix of intense melody but all out thrash riffs grabbing lost of attention from labels, promoters and fans online, they earnt a lot of respect and admiration from the online community. Also at this time The UK Metal Underground rated Balance of Silence 3rd in the "Christmas favourite underground metal band" competition. After more time spent gigging, a record was imminent and with the co-ordination of Li "The Path of Fate" album was born. This album contained a huge compilation of tracks dating from the present and also beyond the band. At the time the group had 6 tracks from BoS set and to fill the album they reworked alot of their previous songs from their former band "SLAVESTATE"' to finish it off. This old material can be distinguished on the album as most of the songs were a lot darker and death influenced. Something that brought out a great range of sound across the record and gives the record that rare thing these days ie: "variety" so that the listener doesn't get bored of hearing the same riffs and vocal variations over and over! The Path of Fate also met with great sales for an independant release, being shipped off worldwide every week from Li's bedroom! It has become one of the most popular underground records of current years. With the album came more gigs, attention and with Bloodstock under their belt in Oct 2005, Mark Challis left BoS for personal reasons Gaf Franks famed for his technical ability on bass joined the fold. With Gaf's sheer technical ability (Gaf is one of the most respected Bassist's in the Midlands our sound developed and recieved another technical dimension. Our sound has progressed way beyond the album. In March 2006 Kris Tearse and Andrew Tewkesbury decided to leave the band. The main reason being our intensifying workload. Commitment was essential, and both guys felt with their already hectic lives and commitments to family and careers they wouldn't be able to take the long hard road with us!By April Steve Kelly from acclaimed classic rock band "Doublecross" joined, quickly followed by Jonny Tearle of famed bands "Gen" and "Calling All Cars". Both of the new guys incredibly talented, professional and extremely technicaland 100% commited to making it all the way.Our sound has diversified even more. There are calls for a new record and we are listening. The new lineup and material is going to blow you away!
