About Me

^^^^^^Shouldn't this say About Us?

We're Mike and Helena. Mike OLD!! (35) helena's not (23). We've been married for two years and have recently had a baby daughter (it's possible that she may be in a picture or two) The handsome little devil in a few of the photo's is Mikes' son Luke who's 8.

We're on here because the rest of the world is, (or so it seems) and that many people can't be wrong....oh and Mikes mate and boss Rav (the one who's trying to look civilised in the Tux in our friend space is a myspace addict.)

Will write more later when our muse isn't in the pub

My Interests

Music:

Janes Addiction - always utterly brilliant. The Lemonheads - welcome back Mr Dando! Damien Rice ...only took the lazy sod 4 years to release a followup to "o"..it'd better be worth the wait!! Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley and Nirvana - missed. The noisy trio of non-rednecked Texans(so that'll be all three then) that make up Explosions In The Sky. Have been a Prince fan since about 1982. He's thankfully out of his crap period now! Pearl Jam, Queens Of The Stoneage, White Stripes, along with countless other guitar bands. Nusrah faeh Ali Khan was simply without peer. Jose Gonzalez is incredible. Wish he's not use so many different tunings though, it makes his song's stupidly hard to work out how to play!! Ryan Adams is great too. Much better than Brian ;-) Oh, and Radiohead , possibly the greatest band of the last 20 years? A final special mention goes to The Pale , a band from Dublin who are simply genius. I firmly believe that Butterfly and Shut up, Venus are two the the best songs ever written. Shane's a top bloke too. Their official site is here.

Movies:

Far far far far far too many to mention, I have a library of about 600 films!! Dangerous Liasons is rather good though. As is Man Bites Dog, Delicatessen, all things Star Wars (obviously disregarding the Ewoks films!! What the hell is a Caravan of Courage!), The Matrix trilogy, Hobsons Choice, The Green Mile, The Breakfast Club, anything by Kevin Smith, Good Will Hunting, Purple Rain & Under The Cherry Moon, Seven, the original Assault of Precinct 13, O' Brother Where Art Thou, Last Exit To Brooklyn, The Hitcher, Blade Runner (version wise, take your pick, they're all good). Also love give-your-brain-a-holiday films like most of the Rocky's and Armageddon. I could go on and on and on but I'll spare you!!

Television:

Scrubs, Eastenders, anything on UK History about the Nazi's purely because EVERYONE should know what they did! Nature stuff such as Planet Earth. Friends, The Simpsons, Futurama and Family Guy. oh and decent music shows, which seem to be a dying breed in the UK

Books:

George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and numerous writers who've doen some of the recent Star Wars novels which are incredibly well written. Can't stand the Davinci Code, crime thrillers etc. if I'm gonna sit and read I wanna be taken somewhere else. /p?

Heroes:

Prince, Mohammed Ali, John Lennon, Perry Farrell, Kurt Cobain, Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith, John Malkovich and the person who discovered citalopram!
