About Me

"The World Will End" (2005)- Our Final Record:
"Standing Still In The U.S.A." limited edition 12" vinyl available for $10 plus shipping.
The Damn Personals have for all intents and purposes, called it a day. Actually, what happened is more akin to leaving your car unlocked with the keys in the ignition in Brooklyn while you hang out at a bar for a few hours - - we weren't paying attention and when we finally turned around our band was gone. A bummer? Certainly. Surprising? Not really. We were always good at losing shit, so why not take it to the logical extreme? Nothing if not consistent. In the past, I don't know, five or six years we've had a lot of fun, met a lot of great people, and seen some fantastic places. We pushed our luck quite a bit on and off stage and the fact that it held out for as long as it did is quite amazing. (In an alternate dimension we were pulled over for DUI, firearm and drug possession on the way to our first show and are all still sitting in jail.) I, for one, am just thankful that I can remember the bulk of it and that no one got seriously injured, excluding black eyes, hernias and third degree firework burns. The passion and poetry of youth is just narrowly getting away with it. We had that part down. Perhaps that's what we were best at.Anyway, as far as I am aware, there will be no last "going away" show. That kind of thing is just far too corny. Plus, if we played together again we'd probably have so much fun that we'd inadvertently end up dragging this thing through the dirt for even longer than we have already. Best to just call it quits with our heads up.As far as other projects are concerned, Michael Gill has a new band called THE MURDER MILE . Jimmy Jax is in THE SNOWLEOPARDS . Anthony is in London's DIRTY PRETTY THINGS . I've been playing with psychedelic rockers WEIRD OWL . So this is the part where I thank everyone that ever cared, or helped us, or bought our records and/or our awesome t-shirts. Thanks. Take care.
