"Eloquent Music. For those who know...."

About Me

Frankfurt-area-based DJ and producer Chris Kionke was infected with electronic music before he could even walk properly, when his dad introduced him to Kraftwerk at a very early age. The infection soon took over his being and after years of partying throughout the 1990´s to the sounds of Sven Väth, Mark Spoon or Pascal FEOS, he eventually started DJing for himself at a local club back in 1997. His musical repertoire at this stage took in House, Trance, HipHop and Soul, but his taste soon leaned towards the new wave of music originating from his homeland. “ I soon fell in love with the more ‘minimal’ approach to dance music,” says Chris “especially when I discovered DJs and producers like Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Johannes Heil and Anthony Rother, among countless others." “This process of discovery is ongoing. Every day there is new and exciting music waiting to be heard and I love nothing more than being the one who finds it. I don’t want to limit myself to any one genre, I’m interested in any kind of music as long as it touches me and I can feel that certain connection to it. It doesn’t matter if it’s Rock or Jazz or Techno or HipHop or anything, it doesn’t even need a beat at all, it just needs to be great music.” “It’s very important to remain open-minded about what you’re doing, so when I’m behind the decks it’s never going to be ‘just House’ or ‘just Electro’ or ‘just Techno’. More often than not it will be a mixture of styles that might include Acid, Breakbeats, House, Techno, Minimal, Chicago, Detroit, Electro, you name it. It depends on the party and the audience at that moment, but almost every time it turns out to be something good to remember. The key lies in connecting with the crowd and seeing how far you can go together.” Chris is currently touring all over Germany as a DJ, whilst also holding residencies at three of the country’s nightspots. In addition to this are the underground parties in small - often secret – locations, which have always been such a potent force in the dance music scene; Chris still loves them so much that he’s just as happy to go along and dance as he is to DJ! “It’s great that I can make a living out of doing what I love,” says Chris, ”but there are so many things I still want to accomplish. I would really love to establish myself as a DJ in other countries and to get going with my own productions on a more professional level. Music is my passion and I just want to get it out there and ‘infect’ some more people with it... If you should feel the same way, well- our cooperation could be just one private message away....”
