Hello from East Yorks!!

About Me

Layout by Ravedigital.comWell....the boring stuff first I suppose.... I'm a normal'ish sort of bloke, working for a living. I've been DJ'ing since 1993 and my styles have ranged from Italian Techno/piano house, through trance, house, progressive, etc, etc. If it's a good tune I'll play it.....especially if it makes people dance!! I've played to 7 people in a little club and played to 2500 people at major events. I was a resident at a club called The Venue in Spennymoor in the North East of England, but I played several clubs in that area on a regular basis and other, further afield occasionally. (I played in Brazil once!) I now play on Oldskoolanthemz at 10pm til Midnight on a Wednesday, for four consecutive weeks and then I have four weeks off.....fits in with work you see! :) I have an absolutely brilliant little lad and he takes up much of my time whenever I'm home.......Still working for a living unfortunately, so music and other fun interests have to come second to making money. It would be very nice to combine the two, but I think I had my "fifteen minutes of fame" back in 1993/4/5. I'm fortunate to work four weeks on/four weeks off, so I do have quality time at home and with family/friends. I'm without a motorbike at the moment.....my plan of getting another one in 2007 was kind of scuppered by my marriage separation, but who knows.....I may get another one one day. Either a bike, or a proper toy of a car.....a Westfield or something.Oh yeah....I've been learning to play the guitar for about two years now and I'm no further on than I was after about six weeks!!! Oh to play well!!! I LOVE to listen to anyone that can play guitar well, whether it be acoustic, classical, steel, etc, etc....the only stuff I'm not keen on is thrash!!!I love animals, particularly cats....they are cool little critters! I did have some land where I saw quite a bit of wildlife, but that too went with the marriage. Bugger eh?? I live in a normal house and lead a relatively normal existence.

My Interests

You will mostly find me here coz it's probably the best music site in t'interweb thingy!!Music & DJ'ing, messing about with cars, motorbikes, a bit of DIY now and again, and generally having a good life. I am particularly fond of Subaru Imprezas and the camaraderie that seems to be present amongst the various owners up and down the country. I pop along to "meets" and like to check out performance car events such as "Ten Of The Best". I'm well into motorbikes, but (as I said earlier) am without one at the moment.

I'd like to meet:

Salvador Dali would have been quality. Peter Gabriel, Lee Evans, Jonathan Ross, Billy Connolly, Steven Hawking, Jenifer Anniston, Kiera Knightley, Ray Winstone, Russell Brand & I wish I'd met Lenny McLean!!

Music:

I love Keane, saw them in October 2006 and they were superb. Favourite album of all time: Al Stewart - Year Of The Cat. I've always preferred "unplugged" stuff and in the last couple of months I've seen some superb performances by unknown artists, playing "celtic" and Irish influenced stuff. As far as the DJ'ing goes, I like and play funky/tech house, trance, progressive, Italian synth and piano stuff. My DJ'ing influences and inspiration came from going out "raving" at some brilliant underground clubs in 1991/2/3 and in 1995 or so, Sasha/Digweed/Ossia/Seaman and co played a large part in a change in musical direction towards trance and house I also like to listen to a bit of classical (certain pieces)now and again....stuff like "Largo" (Hovis advert) and Pomp & Circumstance.....Last Night Of The Proms kinda stuff. I like too many tunes to list my favourites......I'd be here all year!!!! I'm currently listening the The Hoosiers and Morcheeba.

Movies:

All Peter Sellers films. The Italian Job (original) Cannonball Run. Heroes Of Telemark. The Great Escape. Vanishing Point. Bullitt.

Television:

All Ronnie Barker stuff. National Geographic and Discovery Channel type programmes. Motoring programmes like Top Gear, Fifth Gear, etc feature strongly in my viewing. Ant & Dec are always good entertainment too. I also love to see people hurting themselves when doing daft stuff...Jackass, Dirty Sanchez, Team Squirrel (World Famous For Dicking Around), etc, etc.

Books:

Aldous Huxley - Brave New World and Doors Of Perception. Alexander Shulgin - P.I.H.K.A.L. Bill Bryson - A Short History Of Nearly Everything (FANTASTIC BOOK) I have a particular fondness for British "real crime" and gangster related books.

Heroes:

My Dad. My Grandad. Anyone that can battle against a disease and carry on with life - true heroes in my eyes. Guitar heroes: Chris Rea, Eric Clapton, Dave Gilmour, Snowy White, Peter White, Joe Walsh, Graham Russell, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Adrian Vandenberg, Mason Williams, Andrés Segovia.
