About Me

I'm interested in studying primates, especially interested in primate cognition and language. Hopefully within 5 years, I can take classes in physical anthropology. I'd like to visit the Center for Great Apes, Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida, and Great Ape Trust in Iowa. It's odd that I am interested in primates. This all began in 2001 when I was hired to work at a laboratory as a caretaker for monkeys. I was startled to discover how human-like they were. A year after I left the lab, I began reading books written by Jane Goodall, Frans de Waal, Roger Fouts etc. I started watching documentaries on chimpanzees and I was even more intrigued by them. I was surprised to discover in reading Roger Fouts book "Next of Kin" that chimpanzees can communicate in sign language. I visited all these websites and discovered that the apes can communicate with people on a lexigram board and do simple mathematics. I also discovered that they are self-aware and can recognize their image in mirrors. Besides that, I'm also interested in field research.
