music (see below), films (especially 1950s to 1970s British films), books (see below), Rugby League, I support Hull FC as well as South London Storm, Genealogy (tracing my family history), History of Hull, I Ching, WW1, The art of SHAG, socialising, staying in, reading and lots of things to numerous or mundane to mention here.
Sir Tom Courtneay, Stephen King, Leslie Phillips, Tony Benn, Julie Driscoll (coor) Adrienne Posta (double coor), Adrian Henri (bit late for that now - RIP). Old friends I've lost touch with, or fell out with in the past and new friends I've yet to meet.
Mad about 1960s beat/Freakbeat/Psych/Soul/Blues/some Folk and Modern Jazz. Also cock me ear to some 70s rock/punk/New Wave, 80s and 90s indie plus lots of contemporary stuff, Kaleidoscope (UK version), Fairfield Parlour, The Charlatans, The Byrds, Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young), The Rollin Stones, The Stone Roses, The Housemartins, Bob Dylan, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and The Trinity, The Graham Bond Organisation, The Action, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, early Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Slade, The Sweet, The Streets, The Jam, Graham Nash, The Hollies, The Kinks, The Who, The Beatles, Neil Young, The Bee Gees (pre disco of course), Free, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath....and the list goes on... I draw the line at Heavy Metal and ELO. Jeff Lynne's perm/beard combination gives me nightmares.
Get Carter (the original) which is my fave film of ALL time. I never tire of watching it. Here are a few stills from the film.I'm also a huge fan of 1950s/1960s/1970s UK films, kitchen sink/Angry Young Man stuff is my favourite genre but I have wide tastes. I also like psychological horror films such as The Mindbenders and Peeping Tom and silly comedies such as The Ghost Goes Gear and Everday's A Holiday (possibly the worst 1960s films ever!!). I also like films by Quentin Tarentino. My fave UK directors are Ken Loach, Mike Leigh, Nick Love and Shaun Meadows. a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank" a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"
Anything that will make me laugh or teach me something. I'm a big fan of UK television comedies from the 1960s to today (too many to mention here folks but the pics below should give you a general idea) as well as cult classics, such as The Wednesday Play (my faves are Up The Junction, Nuts In May, The Fishing Party and Abigails Party), The Prisoner, The Persuaders and Rugby League on Sky Sports. Also a big fan of programmes such as A History of Britain, Coast and the Discovery Civilisation channel. a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"
Stephen King and Charles Dickens are my fave authors and I love re-reading their works. I also enjoy reading Ian Flemming/George Orwell/Iain Banks/David Lodge/Irvine Welsh/Howard Baker/Jake Arnott/Dan Brown/James Herbert/Ian Flemming/Adrian Henri/Roger McGough/Thomas Hardy/Edgar Allen Poe. I also collect film tie-in paperback books for films from the 1950s to 1970s (I must be stopped before they take over the flat)
