THIS BOY

Presentation Behind the name THIS BOY the latest acquisition of ”bedroom writers” from Vesterbro, Copenhagen is hiding. With his guitar and a laptop THIS BOY has created his own one-man-band. He has created his own lo-fi countryuniverse with a rough sound picture, Beatles-inspired choir, good melodies, having references to J.J.Cale, Neil Young, Kings Of Leon, Beck and Ryan Adams. History THIS BOY started out playing with his brother Jeppe Kolstrup (Now manager for the Danish high-energetic teenage band Dúné) and Rasmus Zetlits and Nikolai Quintbjerg (Now playing in The Laid Parade) in the band exposé. Together the brothers played at the danish music competition Live Contest and in the hometown Skive and in the small city suburbs. Before exposé split in 2003 they released two EP’es: ”exposé” and ”Behind the Misty Noise”. In March 2003 THIS BOY severly injuried a nervecord in his right hand which has made his inner palm numb. In spite of that he managed to continue his musical work.In 2004 THIS BOY moved to London where he joined the English band Divina Icon. With the English lads Leon and Dale he played at several different venues in London and Kent. Still the thought of composing songs on his own seemed more and more attracting. In the fall of 2006 THIS BOY went back to Denmark, Copenhagen to start his own music-business composing and recording his own songs. On the 26th of Maj 2007 THIS BOY played his first gig at Vega in Copenhagen. And on the 19th og July 2007 THIS BOY played his first gig in Southeast Berin at The Moving Picture venue. On the 12th and 13th of September the songs "Keep On Changing" and "Time Has Come" was recorded by THIS BOY and produced by Søren Balsner in Yderlandet Studio in Copenhagen. In December 2008 Asger Tarpgaard decided to join the THIS BOY project as a mentor. Future In December 2007 THIS BOY played two gigs in Berlin. One at The Pitrowski Gallery and one at Bang Bang Club. On the 22nd of Febuary 2008 THIS BOY will appeared at the by:LARM festival and got good response especiallt from the Russian booker Killa Kat. Furthermore new recordings where made at the end of January 2008. THIS BOY recorded with in Jens Sondergaard’ (Drums, Powersolo) studio in Copenhagen.
