First thing is first - this site is maintained by the Dead Poppies officially masquarading as themselves.
Ok right then, we have had this myspace thing and done nothing with it for what seems an age, and yes, this has been a long time coming, but at least we have now embraced the modern world and will start uploading loads of lo-fi archive pics, songs, rehearsal tapes and stuff as of now.
Lexi is heading off back to Australia shortly celebrating the birth of mini-she - Isabela, and also to get hitched, so congratulations to her. Ken and Mick are both getting over bike crashes. Roger is playing bass all over the show, so it seems, and Jay is noodling as always too.
Who knows, there may even be a gig or two on the horizon....woo!
Just got to grips with things and uploaded some band version one pix... coming soon... some pix and clips of the definitive version of the band ..... featuring Lexi on gorgeous vox.
Also just uploaded some tunes. Seeing as most of our stuff is mightily long, especially the intrumentals, we have just uploaded some shorter numbers for now.
Just some things about the latest album "Confidence Tricks":
"... an astounding piece of psychedelic folk... Australian singer Lexi Senior's voice is so tuneful and sexy there should be a draconian law against it [...] In short, this is one of the great psychedelic albums..." John Coleman, What's On.
"Edging ahead by virtue of being the love child of Lush's mighty 'Deluxe' & The Smiths' 'Please Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want' Wahey! A real find!" Iain Moffat, Playlouder
"They have subsumed the influences of the great and given birth to music which is provocative, invigorating and wholly their own." Bill Parry, Holding Together.
"Sound good, play good, and pretty much do everything else good." David Couchman.
"Fusing delicate folk with head-spinning west coast psych, summery pop with psychedelic noodling, this vivid set crackles with imagination..." David LLoyd, City Life.
"Another dose of loveliness from the Liverpool quintet... listen with awe as [they switch] from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Gram Parsons in a single leap." Rocksound
"..the band created a minor masterpiece..." Richard Allen, Freakbeat
