MUSIC::::LIVE TRACKS FROM THE MOBIL MART Memorial Weekend
These files are too long to compress into the Myspace music player so we are linking them from our webstorage to here...
1. Didg Jam into full band freaky cello jam
2. Old Coyote Moon (orig.)
3. Funky Bitch (Son Seals)
4. What?! (orig.)
5. Sleep Tight (orig.) (cut short by recorder)
This was our farewell public show with Matt Wilson on keyboards, and I only wish that the first set had been recorded properly (the levels were too high and things got distorted), he has moved on to field work in Maine and grad school in Montana...so enjoy these tracks from our second set at the Mobil...and hopefully we'll get some new stuff later this summer....
....STORY OF THE BAND....... our music began one day 4 years ago in an old 1930s wood cabin (built by Elmer and Floyd 1934, then added onto by "Backcountry Bob" Solima from the late 1970s to 2002) at about 7,600 feet in the red and white firs and ponderosa along the banks of the San Joaquin River headwaters........the lyrics of my original songs come from the consciousness I gained while spending three winters snowed-in at an unbelievable cabin from October to June, living completely embraced by wildness.....it seeps into your soul and there is no going back....we literally had no road, no neighbors, nothing but empty mountains for perhaps a hundred miles to the north, 20 miles to the west, 10 miles to the east, and the shortest distance of only a few miles clmbing steeply up the backside of mammoth mountain to any sort of humanity. so don't believe people if they try to tell you that you can no longer live in a cabin in the woods....they're wrong, you still can if you're lucky, even in California....
After years of just jammin' at home and occassional parties, we began playing live at the Tap the summer of 2007...it was short lived, but a great learning experience, and prepared us for summer 2008 during which we played three nights a week for the height of the summer, which got us into playing better paying gigs at The Auld Dubliner during this past winter...What started as a loose collection of friends jammin' in an old mountain cabin has morfed into an active and talented band of musicians. We have Alex Clayton drivin' on drums, Eric Christian holdin' it down on a sweet Modulus bass guitar, Jon Carlton singing thru his Fender Telecaster and Twin Reverb, David Huebner on acoustic guitar (with effects sometimes), vocals, and his beautiful french lady: the cello, a great didgridoo player named Bruce Medhurst, and Matt Wilson on keyboards, who just recently left town for grad school...so our sound is really starting to go places and morf and progress...excited for the summer music season...
FREAKY CELLO MUSIC

Our music is influenced primarily by the beautiful place in which we live...the backcountry powder skiing and riding and living snowed-in in a small wood cabin, backpacking for two weeks or two months, surfing and long trips to Baja, fly fishing, fine wine, kine, beer and a good tri-tip...

musically it's hard to say because we all love and listen to a wide variety of music but our sound definitely feels like it comes out of listening to a lot of the grateful dead, country and folk classics, and good blues...

names like Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead..but also, mostly just doing a lot of our own, original music....we have a lot of original tunes that swing from folky rock and roll to slow heavy grunge rock inspired stuff to straightforward blues, to pyschadelic wild cello based ramblings..........
Sounds Like: GOTHIC - FOLK - EMO
well, not really, but maybe who knows,
perhaps
ALT. FOLK ROCK TRIPPIN BLUES JAM....
basically a mixture of sounds and inspirations from old time traditional songs to classic country and folk music to Dead-like sounds to rockin' blues to strange pyschadelic bass/cello/electric guitar wanderings....to heavy rockin' original songs....

we're always changing, always writing new songs, and completely open in terms of style and sound....WE HATE GENRES
