About Me

First off, I am a VERY odd man; but I'm aware of it, and I embrace my oddities. I love to giggle, and laugh; I truely believe that it brings more happiness into my life. I'm easily distracted, I think I have about a 20 second attention span. I like sparkly things, and things that spin or perform some sort of entertaining function. I like to design, and build things. I like to play with things that aren't actually toys; and I also like to play with toys.
I'm a fun-loving guy who doesn't like spending much time sitting around at home. I love to cook, and people like to eat what I make, so I must be doing something right. Some people would say that I'm obsessed with cars, but I think I just have a passion for them; I've had 56 now, and doubt that I'll stop playing with them anytime soon. I LOVE music, but find myself almost sickened by most of what comes out lately. During the summertime, I try to spend as much time as possible outside, burning off all the weight I packed on over the winter, from drinking beer(mmmmmm beer is good), and eating bacon cheeseburgers. I love hiking, camping, canoeing, bicycling; and I also enjoy the finer/cleaner things in life. I love zoos, I enjoy going to museums, but I don't get to nearly often enough. I love going out for dinner, I can't even convey how much I love food! I also enjoy seeing live music at area clubs; especially McAuliffe's Pub, and now McAuliffe's on the Square in Racine (gotta give my friends their plug). My most favorite thing in life is driving; I just love being in a car, or on a motorcycle, taking in all the beauty around me. My pirate name is: Dread Pirate Kidd Like the famous Dread Pirate Roberts, you have a keen head for how to make a profit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr! Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.

My Interests

Canoing/kayaking, cars (especially European imports), hiking, camping, mountain biking, bicycling in general, road tripping, driving aimlessly, music, movies, beer, wine, cigars, GREEN ENERGY...

I'd like to meet:

Kate Hudson; she'd be my celebrity freebee.
...But seriously; If Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, or Albert Einstein where alive...
I'd also like to meet George W. Bush so I could give him a *sike* when he tried to shake my hand.
As far as people that I actually can meet... I want to meet new friends, not that the ones I already have don't f'ing rock.

Music:

Well, to name a few: Radiohead, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Travis, Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, Supertramp, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Ben Folds, The Black Crowes, Third Eye Blind, Fuel, Counting Crows, Filter, Son Volt, The White Stripes, Damien Rice, Smashing Pumpkins, Ray Lamontagne, Cracker, Fiona Apple, My Morning Jacket, Old Crow Medicine Show, My Chemical Romance, Leona Naess, Styx, Chicago, George Straight, Tim McGraw, and I have to hear a little Motorhead once in a while.

Movies:

The Bourne trilogy, Garden State, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Almost Famous, The Whole Nine Yards, The Jackal, Crash, The Goonies, Cars, Oh Brother..., everything from M. Knight Shyamalan, Pleasantville, The Butterfly Effect, The Departed, What Dreams May Come, The Holiday, The Notebook (gotta love those whirlwind romances), Stranger Than Fiction, Transformers, 28 days, 28 weeks later, I also like cheesy "B" horror flicks, ironically for their comedic value.

Television:

NO SPORTS!!! Mythbusters, Overhaulin, Two and a Half Men, How I met Your Mother, My Name is Earl, M*A*S*H*, Prison Break, October Road, That 70's Show, Scrubs, Becker, Frasier, and possibly a few others.

Books:

I don't read much, other than for research. I read a lot about alternative energy systems for homes and automobiles!

Heroes:

I can't think of any heroes, childhood or otherwise. I did once go through the kitchen window (while it was closed), and landed in the back yard, because I was running through the house pretending to be Superman. Luckily I managed to live through that unscathed. I am pretty impressed by Chris Angel and Chip Foose, but I wouldn't call either of them a hero.

My Blog

Pumpkins: laziness, instant gratification, or ignorance?

A while back I looked up recipes for pumpkin pie, hoping to learn how to make a pumpkin pie from an actual pumpkin.  Try googling "pumpkin pie recipe" once, you'll get nothing more than re...

Trees make me smile

It's really amazing what the perfect job can do for the soul.  I now get to spend my workdays hiking into the woods, climbing trees, and playing with chainsaws.  Don't get me wrong, I'm bust...
