Jazz, funk, Soul. Funky & Euphoric House. Uplifting danceable stuff. I have a penchant for singer/songwriters esp. female, e.g. Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, PJ Harvey. Of recent stuff, I like The Kooks & The Feeling.
I like classic older films like Easy Rider. I love Almodovar & foreign/ independent films. Recently watched Coffee & Cigarettes, Jim Jarmusch, fabulous. Small glimpses into peoples lives & their coffee drinking & cigarette habits, v nicely done. I'm a bit of a sucker for Rom Coms like Four Weddings & a Funeral. One of my fave films is The English Patient - its all the repressed burning passion that does it! (& the cinematography. I've never seen the desert so stunningly shot)
At the moment I'm reading novellas by Colette, 'Gigi & The Cat'. I would highly recommend; typically French, sensual, acerbic, tongue in cheek & beautiful detail. Ideal to read in a Paris Cafe, pausing only to sip coffee & people watch. Others too numerous to list, but I am a Woolf fan & I like reading plays.
