About Me
Hi Guys this is the real Jamelia, i don't know why people keep pesturing me about this myspace thing. I was born in Birmingham, England to a Jamaican family. I was raised in the inner city district of Aston. I was signed to Parlophone at the age of 15, after impressing record executives with self-written a capella songs. In April 1999 I released my first single, "So High", although it wasn't until my second single, "I Do" that i charted inside the official UK top 40 singles chart for the first time. In 2000, at age 18, i released my first album Drama, which peaked inside the UK top 40 albums chart at #39. The most successful single from the album was "Money", featuring a guest vocal from Beenie Man which went top 5. i was nominated for five Mobo Awards in 2000, winning one. After the success of my debut album, i temporarily retired from the music business to give birth to a baby girl on March 18, 2001. While bringing up my daughter Teja, i made plans for a comeback and in 2003 my comeback single "Bout" was released, returning myself to the UK top 40. In September 2003, my second album Thank You was released and peaked at #65. Prior to this, my fifth top 40 hit, "Superstar", a version of Danish singer Christine Milton's song was released. This song gave me my first taste of international success, especially in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In autumn 2004 i was asked to contribute to the Band Aid 20 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?". At the same time i released the theme song for the film Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, "Stop", a Sam Brown cover, which became my fifth top 10 hit in the UK as a double A-side with the aforementioned "DJ".My third album, Walk With Me, is due for release on September 25, 2006. I was rumoured to have collaborated with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on the album but at present this is unconfirmed. The first single from the third album will be "Something About You", which currently has a release date of September 11, 2006. Also i got a second daughter who i love very much mwah. The second single is likely to be "Beware Of The Dog" which features a sample from "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode. Another track, "No More", features a sample from "Golden Brown" by The Stranglers. want some more info then message
