Opera Nightmare was founded in São Paulo (Brazil) in 2003 by ,the guitarrist and vocalist, Filippe Tonini. The proposal of the band was to make a tribute to one of the biggest bands of the Gothic Metal scene: Tristania.
Filippe met the others members in a mail list promoted by the Tristania's official brazilian site, Preludium. Rogério Souza (bassist) , Márcio Belloni (guitarrist and backing vocals), Reginaldo (drummer) and Eduardo Hatama (keybords) joyned the band. The last one was the vocalist Aelita Kusmenkoviski.
After some months, Reginaldo and Aelita leave the band giving place to the drummer Yul and the vocalist Paula Nogueira.
The first show of Opera Nightmare happened in Vamp Festival 5, an event promoted by Gothz Newz, with the bands Trinnity and Der Wahnsinn. The recepcion of the public was fantastic, there were about 1500 people in the place.
In the course of time the band has changed again. Márcio Belloni, Paula Nogueira, Yul and Eduardo Hatama has left the band. Now; Júnior, Paloma Marcondes, Renan Torres and Marcelo Lavorado are the new Opera Nightmare with Filippe Tonini.
Since then, Opera Nightmare hasn't stopped! The recepcion of the public was so great, that the band conquered the third place as the best tribute band of the year 2005 in an event arranged by Gothz Newz.
