TVT Records was founded in 1986 and has been extremely successful ever since the start. It is fully owned by it´s founder Steve Gottlieb. TVT is self distributed in the US.
Thanks to TV compilations in the beginning (“TV-toons” – this is why the company is named “TVT”...) and artists like Nine Inch Nails - who sold millions of albums worldwide – TVT has always been considered as a top indie player.
TVT Records today is the biggest and most successful Independent label in the US and has been nominated by “Billboard magazine“ as 1 Independent. Record Label in the United States” for 2002 and 2003 – and wins 2004 - the R&B/ Hip Hop award for independent record label of the year.
Thanks to their gold- & platinum artists Sevendust, Default, Snoop Dogg presents Tha Eastsidaz,
Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, Ying Yang Twins and 213.
TVT Records is able to break newcomers as well as established artists every year, as well as marketing a variety of international top soundtracks with “Mortal Kombat” and “Blade” - being the most successful ones to date, as well as Fargo, Analyze That, Starsky & Hutch and many more to come.
Since 2004 TVT runs 2 marketing offices – one in Berlin – TVT Europe GmbH - responsible for all of continental Europe and TVT UK – for UK and Ireland. TVT has distribution and licensing deals with various partners worldwide.
