The two members of Dish have bickered on family car trips, fought over bunk beds and cruised the streets of their hometown of Damascus, Maryland their whole lives. But more importantly, they discovered music together, and the pairing of Robertos organic, genre-busting singing and guitar work with Nathaniels junk-gypsy found percussion has been a decade in the making.
Thats exactly what Dish is- two left-of-center musical minds preternaturally in tune with each other to create a sound without peer on the current pop scene. Their ten-song debut album for SouthStar Records, Love and Friction, was recorded in three feverish days in Los Angeles by Jay Bellerose and Jennifer Condos and engineered by Ryan Freeland (who recently helmed Aimee Manns The Forgotten Arm). The album veers from the impressionist dreamscape of Im Ready to the shout-a-long, Bends-era Radiohead-esque title track without missing a beat on the corrugated drainpipe or office-supply water jug.
Its that intensity of performance and songcraft that have, quite simply, leveled audiences wherever Dish has played.
