I have been a music enthusiast my entire life. I would have to thank my parents for that... raising me on Neil Young, Tom Petty, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor & the Stones. Over the years, I personally fell in love with my own favorites... Jewel, Norah Jones, Damien Rice, Patty Griffin, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow and The Dixie Chicks to name a few.
I have been singing as long as I can remember. I took piano lessons in elementary school, but quit after about a year. I was just a kid and very frustrated that I could not read music and only played by ear. I bought my first guitar in 2001 and taught myself how to play. I wanted to learn an instrument that I could pick up and take with me... I could not easily carry the piano.
I started out playing many cover songs because I was comfortable with them. It is easy to replicate but not as easy to create. In January 2006, I wrote my first song. Writing has become the most amazing release for me. To date, I have 15 original songs and they continue to pour out of me. I feel that no matter what happens in life, positive or negative, if I can write a song about it, it has been a success.
Music has definitely become the love of my life! I continue to learn things about myself and meet amazing people while traveling down this path.
