SouthCity Records was founded By Cory "Murda" Lineberger in 2004. He started writing rhymes and poetry at the age of 7. Always being near some kind of musical instruments all his life, Cory at age 11, soon started developing other talents, which led to him making music behind the scenes.While on the other hand Murda's 1st cousin William "DoeBoy" Craig Jr., grew up as an all-star athelete dominating in basketball and football. After graduating high school DoeBoy discovered his ability to rap, while hanging with his homeboys freestyling over instrumentals. DoeBoy did not take music seriously at the time.Throughout the years Murda would play DoeBoy some track's that he made and DoeBoy would reply like "Yo dats tight." While they were in the studio, Murda would put on some
hot beats and they would freestlye and record it on tape.After people starting feeling the tape, they realized they had chemistry together. Even though They had other artists on the tape, people seem to feel their vibe the most. Murda and Doeboy soon started writing songs together and droping tracks with other local homies in the hood.In 2005, the group made a mixtape with previous rapper "Sluggs" and a couple of other artists from the greater Winston-Salem area. The Cd droped in 2006 and the group received a lot of positive feedback with only 5,000 copies sold locally.Murda and Doeboy's goal is to make a big mark in the music industry and try to succeed in life insted of turning back to the negative things."It aint were you live its what u make of it, thats why we trying to get this paper in the most positive way possible." says Murda who also does the entire production for the duo.Now To give you an idea of who's who, first there's DoeBoy aka Da Beast, now dont get him wrong he can come at you with deep lyrics but he also brings the clever metaphors and punchlines.
