GET BENT

About Me

Average white suburbanite slob. Certified music bum and guitar teacher. Regularly offend people without even trying - usually only people who don't understand irony. Hopefully going back to uni next year to study psychology and commerce, so that one day I might be able to work out what the hell is wrong with my brain, fix it, and make a shitload of money. God, can you imagine if I became a drug and alcohol counsellor?

Likes: apathy, beer, Buffy, cheese, chocolate, cigarettes, coffee, fast food, films, guitars, midnight, music, quiet nights with friends, rain, sarcasm, sci-fi, tea, The OC, wine, winter.

Dislikes: agendas, clean jeans, day jobs, punctuality, testosterone poisoning, triangles.

My Interests

Music - everything except country and bad R&B.
Films - anything that doesn't outlast my short attention span.
Irony - sarcasm is always appropriate.

I'd like to meet:

Someone to inspire me and restore my faith in humanity.

Say something!

Music:

Currently on the iPod (Shuffle styles): The Black Keys, The Dandy Warhols, Giant Drag, A Perfect Circle, Shutterspeed, Silversun Pickups, Smashing Pumpkins, Speedstar, Stereophonics, Tool.

Movies:

Empire Records, High Fidelity, This Is Spinal Tap, Monty Python & Terry Gilliam films, Trainspotting, The Dark Crystal, Almost Famous, Blues Brothers, Laurel Canyon, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Napoleon Dynamite, Ghostbusters.

Which Empire Records Character Are You?

Television:

Have poor reception so I usually play guitar or I'm on the web. Love cartoons - Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, South Park and Happy Tree Friends. Really gonna miss The Glasshouse when it gets canned at the end of this season :( Thank God You're Here has its moments, I'd love to get the opportunity to be on that show just to see how badly I would cope.

Which Buffy Guy Are You?

Books:

Really ought to read more...

Heroes:

Courtney Love for being the skankiest rock chick ever. George Harrison for being the sickest Beatle. Everyone who ever had to put up with my shit and still stuck around.

Its FUCKING NOVEMBER!

Anybody who's too young to remember Billy Connolly's World Tour Of Australia in the late '90's is not gonna get the reference, but yes, it's true: I have chosen to continue my usual tack of stating th...

"Yeah... Id have his babies..." (appended no. 2)

Was at City Diggers tonight being antisocial and smoking on the Terrace (that's Terr-ah-chay!) when the video clip for Bigger Than My Body by John Mayer came on... and it reminded me how badly I would...

Back to uni (I hope)

Just put in my application to go back to uni next year. Cut it a bit fine - just over half an hour before the cutoff time! But I'm pretty excited about the prospect of studying again. Or for the first...

Everybodys Gotta Learn Sometimes

Not as philosophical as the title might sound - this is about the song, by Beck, from the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I don't even listen to Beck that much - I do have a consi...

For the record:

OK, a few people seem to have missed the point on my last blog entry. I'm comfortable with my sexuality. I can handle my man-crushes. Grow some balls and stop being homophobes. You know who you are......

"Yeah... Id have his babies..."

I've given my list of potential future (ex-)wives formal recognition, so in the name of, like, equal rights, political correctness and good humour, I feel it's time to do the same for the less-fair se...

Song of the week (or until further notice...)

Built to Spill - Conventional Wisdom I dig this song a helluva lot... Doug Martsch is the only dude I know of who can make being balding, goofy and middle-aged look cool. He's the man. This i...
