The Plaids

Deliciously Ridiculous

About Me

We're not going to tell you about The Plaids. We're just not going to tell you all that boring bio stuff, such as "The Plaids have been rockin' the Carolinas and beyond for over three years now," and how members of this band have played in or with most of the great regional party bands, such as Absolute 80's, the Breakfast Club, McFly, Ultraviolet, The Vagabond Saints' Society, blah, blah, blah.
So what do you need to know about The Plaids? Well, many say that they throw the most rocking parties around. Many shake their heads in wonder and say, "How do they do that?" Others shake their heads in wonder and say "WHY do they do that?" Lots of cheesy 80's? You got it. Do they bring the rock? You betcha. But what about Neil Diamond? Are they afraid to fire up a fog machine and sing like girls? Check, no way, and they prefer it like that.
Do you need catch The Plaids in action? Well, we strongly encourage it.
The Plaids. Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

Band Members: "Mighty Doug" Davis - vocals, guitar, keys
The warm little center we Plaids crowd around. He has appeared on more stages throughout the years than both "Cats" and "Macbeth" combined. Not much is known of Doug's past - there are only rumors and legends. It is said that he was the original keyboardist for Sigue Sigue Sputnik, an uncredited creator of the TV show ALF, and that he wrote the smash hit, "We Built This City (On Rock & Roll)," only to refuse any royalties and demand his name be taken off of it when he heard the mess they had made of his ode to the majesty of Rock. All before his 18th birthday. All of these things could be true. No-one knows for sure. The only thing that is known for certain is that he, in fact, has seen a million faces. And that he did, allegedly, rock them all. Buy him a beer (he likes that), but don't mention Starship (it still upsets him), and who knows? You, too, may become part of the legacy - the legend that is Doug Davis.

Smokin' Mitchell Snow aka "The Manchild" - guitar, acoustic guitar, scratchin'
Man of mystery. Man of Steel. Man who ... well, he likes puppies and teddy bears, ghost stories and murder ballads. He wears black on the outside, because black is how he likes his coffee. Mitchell was born on a smokestack summer night in a tobacco barn, during an electrical storm. Things have calmed down a little since then. On the outside.

The Manchild doesn't move around much onstage because the Manchild doesn't have to move around. The ladies know. If you want to make a friend, let him bum a cigarette. If you want to make an enemy, ask him about his scars. But you don't want to make an enemy.

Sexy Steve "The Chocolate Volcano" Czumaj - bass, vocals The men call him lucky. The ladies call him constantly. The Plaids call him Sexy Steve.

Sexy Steve holds down the bottom end of the Plaids' musical hijinks with zeal and aplomb, sometimes simultaneously. He wears the white pants of the family, and they strain mightily against the size and power of his … well, his … talent. Conceived on Valentine's Day, Sexy Steve was born to a family of Hungarian gymnasts on the lam. He's been leaping, bounding and dancing ever since, and not necessarily in that order. Like a white tiger in the wild, you can't stop Sexy Steve. You can only hope to contain him.

You want to know Sexy Steve. You need to know Sexy Steve. Grab him between the sets, hand him a Jaeger Bomb, and bask in the healing light of his sexiness!

Bob "MC Bubba" Stitcher - drums, vocals, droppin' science, bustin' moves MC Bubba is the pounding force behind the Plaids, maintaining the relentless flow, droppin' the science. No doubt, boo - the man is unparalleled as a funky fresh beatsman. He's got more rhymes than the Bible's got psalms, y'all. Born on the Bayou with a gut of steel, Bubba can eat fire. No lie. Not "used to"; "can" and "will." We must urge you to stay on his good side, unless you want to end up in the shizzle fo' sho'. We're not sure what that means, but it sounds dope. Or ill. Or whichever one is bad; we can't remember. And when he comes out from behind the kit to rock da mic, haters be illin'. To know him is to meet him, to meet him is to love him.
