About Me

I have finally added a photo, so you can all shut up. The only photo I seem to have on my computer is this one, of me in a bikini on horseback on my honeymoon in Jamaica--and no, you're not getting the uncropped version--with all that long, post-wedding hair flowing (just days before it was ceremoniously chopped off, because it never looked like it does in this picture) with no makeup other than a healthy honeymoon glow. So there. I got over myself.
As for what I've been up to, I'm living in LA (no, not Louisiana, the other one), working as a technical editor at an engineering firm, and hanging out with my superstar husband and our two spoiled cats. It is oh so glamorous.
PS - I swear on whatever is handy that I am not the one who created the myspace page for my cats. I know you won't believe me, but it wasn't me. But c'mon, why should they not enjoy the pleasures of myspace?

My Interests

Live music, lounging around, learning to cook without kitchen disasters, reading, urban living, thinking about writing but not actually writing anything

I'd like to meet:

On my space? Mostly people I already know (or used to know, as the case may be)

Music:

Indie, guys who rock pianos, Ben Folds, The Beatles, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Glen Phillips, The Shins, The Decemberists, Rilo Kiley, Dan Bern, 60s, 70s, Sirius "Left of Center", lots lots lots more. I love singer songwriters, especially prolific ones, and melodic pop with intelligent lyrics (i.e., generally nothing found on the radio).

Movies:

I watch movies constantly... it's really hard for me to pick a representative list of my favorites, but some that have stayed with me are Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Little Miss Sunshine, Titanic, Almost Famous, The Jerk, Amelie, Garden State, and many more I'm just not thinking of. Among other things, I love rididulous comedies, bad '80s movies, and any film that is well done.

Television:

The Simpsons, My Name is Earl, The Office (British & American), Lost... various cancelled shows such as Arrested Development (sob) and Mr. Show... various shows my husband worked on such as Weeds and Heroes (premiers Sept 25)...

Books:

The Cider House Rules, Gone with the Wind, The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat, anything by John Irving, Nick Hornby... my guilty pleasure is fiction written about teenage girls but marketed in a way that makes me feel ok to buy it as an adult

Heroes:

John Irving; Ben Folds; Oliver Sacks
