About Me

Hello, Hola, Bonjour, :)Originally from New York, my family moved down to Myrtle Beach, SC when I was about to start high school. So I've been down south now for about 13 years. My blood has thinned and I say things like "ya'll" and when I am tired you will especially notice a southern drawl. Myrtle Beach is a tourist town. In the winter it used to seem so quiet, but it seems that the winter is almost as busy as the summer.I guess you could say I am the classic musician- No matter what life seems to throw at me, I can not keep away from getting my toes wet and ears full of music. I do the day job thing but I live for the nights of playing music and entertaining. You will usually find me playing music, drawing or learning something new or doing something creative. I like finding reasons to smile and laugh~ comedies and cartoons usually do the trick. :)During the day, I work at a law firm. It is the most kick ass day job I have ever had. I've worked in other law firms before, but never in such an environment as this office- the walls are black and red and art is displayed everywhere. The girls I work with are great. Its truely awesome.I am in the process of becoming certified in Handwriting Analysis so if you are curious about this science, I love the subject and enjoy talking with others about it.I am also in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish and in French. If you speak either of these languages and want to practice, Im game. The new band is getting on its feet. It is back to being fun playing music- the way it should always be. We'll have a myspace alive and kicking soon too. We're getting the calendars dates ready and filled in. I'll keep you updated. (And if you are curious about the last project i was in, you can still see some videos, pics and hear some songs and buy the album on the net. Mary's Iguana parted ways about a year ago.)I am also into learning about the reality we create for ourselves. Check out these videos if you are interested in finding a whole new perspective on life:The Holographic Universe Part I: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=vnvM_YAwX4IThe Holographic Universt Part II: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=YG9FO7JGWq4&feature=relatedlizblackstone@yah oo.com Rock On XOX ~Liz Blackstone~P.S. They Printed my letter in the Surge Magazine! Check it out:It takes courage to write about controversial subjects. I would like to thank Timothy C. Davis for writing an article on a subject that is viewed as a controversial issue- marijuana. Thanks to propaganda the truth is often left alone. Humans have been using marijuana for centuries- for more than just medical purposes. Marijuana is the earliest known woven fabric which began to be used as a textile in the 8th millennium BC. The United States first law issued in regards to marijuana was enacted in 1619 in the colony of Jamestown where it ordered all farmers to grow cannabis. In 1631 Massachusetts followed and then Connecticut in 1632. From 1331 until the early 1800’s marijuana was even recognized as legal tender- mainly to encourage farmers to grow more. In the early ages of transportation the ships used cannabis-hemp for fuel. All the sails and rigging on all ships were made from cannabis-hemp due to the fact that cannabis was known to be highly resistant to salt and rot. Cannabis-hemp was once so significant and crucial to the navy that King Henry VIII made it a compulsory crop to safeguard supplies for making sails and rope. The USS Constitution used over 60 tons of hemp in her. The vast majority of the world’s fiber, fabric, medicine, paper, incense and lighting oil was made from cannabis. America's famous flag Old Glory consisted entirely of cannabis. Early American settlers knew from experience that cannabis-hemp was softer and warmer than cotton, and had three times the tensile strength making it more durable than cotton. Benjamin Franklin started one of Americas first paper mills using cannabis- NOT tree pulp. The revolutionary newspapers and pamphlets like Common Sense, the Declaration of Independence and many others would not have been published if they had to procure their paper from England . Until 1883 80-90% of all paper in the world was made from cannabis including bibles, books, maps, money and newspapers. Marijuana is also widely accepted in the medical field and has been used by the Chinese for over 5000 years. Numerous published studies suggest that marijuana has medical value in treating patients with serious illnesses such as AIDS, glaucoma, cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and chronic pain. In 1999, the Institute of Medicine, in the most comprehensive study of medical marijuana's efficacy to date, concluded, "Nausea, appetite loss, pain and anxiety . . . all can be mitigated by marijuana." Allowing patients legal access to medical marijuana has been discussed by numerous organizations, including the AIDS Action Council, American Bar Association, American Public Health Association, California Medical Association, National Association of Attorneys General, and several state nurses associations. Public opinion favors ending the prohibition of medical marijuana. According to a 1999 Gallup poll, 73% of Americans are in favor of "making marijuana legally available for doctors to prescribe in order to reduce pain and suffering." In a 2004 poll commissioned by AARP, 72% of Americans ages 45 and older thought marijuana should be legal for medicinal purposes if recommended by a doctor. Also, since 1996, voters in eight states plus the District of Columbia have passed favorable medical marijuana ballot initiatives. Why is a substance that has been known, used and trusted for thousands of years looked at as an illegal drug? The modern uses for the cannabis plant are surprisingly amazing and vast. (Visit http://www.torontohemp.com/hempuses.htm to find over 100 commercial uses.) Marijuana can help the country as a cash crop and enrich the lives of Americans. Perhaps if more people were curious and questioned what information they are given, answers may surface. Peace and Respect, Liz BlackstoneAnd a little extra Mary Jane info for ya'll:Henry Ford, inventor of the Ford automobile, recognized the utility of the hemp plant. He constructed a car of resin stiffened hemp fiber, and even ran the car on ethanol made from hemp. Ford knew that hemp could produce vast economic resources if widely cultivated. Ford's optimistic appraisal of cellulose and crop based ethyl alcohol fuel can be read in several ways. First, it can be seen as an oblique jab at a competitor. General Motors had come to considerable grief the summer of 1925 over another octane boosting fuel called tetra-ethyl lead, and government officials had been quietly in touch with Ford engineers about alternatives to leaded gasoline additives. All this information and more (such as HOW did this wonderful plant become known as anything but a positive herb?!... *hint.... if this plant can be used for all of these purposes... in a competitive commercial industry competitors like to stomp out competition...) at this link:http://www.torontohemp.com/hempuses.htmPPS I found some old videos from my old band Mary's Iguana. I did find some video footage from the House of Blues show where we packed the house. But House of Blues management does not allow musicians to share video from their venue. I would have rather used the HOB footage cause this show here was a fun show, yes- but also a drunk fun show... lol. This show was at The Clubhouse. Books:

I really enjoy reading.*The Law of Attraction~ The Basic Teachings of Abraham*. Amazing book. It is the best book I have read in- well, I cant think of a book I enjoyed reading as much as this book.Another book that I found highly intriguing is Seth Speaks by Jane Roberts (and her husband Robert Butts)Success Traits of the Rich & Happy by Bart Baggett is a very good read- very informational. Bart also has a very good book called Handwriting and Love, Sex and Relationships. (Its very helpful knowing if the relationship is doomed from the start- this book includes the Hell Traits to avoid when looking for a significant other) If you are having trouble with your love life, this book really helped me understand how to communicate with a new perspective, The Five Love Languages- how to express heart felt commitment to your mate by: Dr. Gary ChapmanHarry Potter- I recommend reading every single one in the seriers. C.S.Lewis Chronicles of Narnia. Oliver Twist. Huckleberry Finn. Heidi. The Brothers Grimm. Charles Dickenson. Hans Christian Anderson.
