About Me

I think I really like this director:
Oh maybe I am just a sucker for videos with pretty boys...
Wow
Hahahaha...
My name is Lisa. I am, in no particular order, a physicist, writer, filmmaker, programmer, musician, photographer, dreamer, child, woman and human being.
"I think that physicists are the Peter Pans of the human race. They never grow up and keep their curiosity. Once you are sophisticated, you know too much, far too much." ~ I.I. Rabi, Physicist
"There are two ways to live your life - one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle." ~Albert Einstein
"If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility" ~Longfellow
"You can't assume that kindness is an inherited trait. It is learned behavior." ~Katie Couric
"The normal adult never stops to think." ~Albert Einstein
From 'Failure to Launch'. This one actually made me laugh out loud.
"I wish I could talk to guys like that."
"Well, it's easier when the guy is tied up."
"I've talked to guys that are tied up..."
"If both of you always agree, then one of you is unnecessary." ~Graycloud Rios
"Creative individuals tend to be smart, yet also naive at the same time. Creative individuals have a combination of playfulness and discipline, or responsibility and irresponsibility." another relief From Creativity - Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
"Basically my wife was immature. I'd be at home in the bath and she'd come in and sink my boats." ~Woody Allen, Creative Guy

My Interests

In the abstract: connecting with people, being creative, using the whole of my being in whatever I do, being lost in the moment, being lost in someone's eyes.
In the concrete: writing, photography, walks, coffee shop chats, traveling, gardening as stress relief, going on new adventures, orchestras and plays, learning about the world and others. Surprise me.

I'd like to meet:

Writers who think in pictures, photographers who work in emotion, artists who daydream, and scientists who feel the sacredness of all in their gut.

Klaus Badelt

Music:

All. None. Depends on the day and the mood. Good grooves trump bad lyrics (drummer ya know, can't help it). Smattering from my iPod: Gym Class Heroes, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Eminem, System of a Down, Snot, Sims, Theory of a Deadman, Stutterfly, My Chemical Romance, The Prodigy, Peter Gabriel, P.O.S., Lil'Wayne, KT Tunstall, Kanye West, Har Mar Superstar, Gorillaz, Fiona Apple, Fergie, Fall Out Boy, Drowning Pool, Deftones, Create and Devastate, Citizen Cope, Cheville, Breaking Benjamin, Boomkat, Beck, Augustana, Ani DiFranco and American Head Charge.

Movies:

Metropolis, Harold and Maude, Dead Man, The Namesake, Whale Rider, Saving Face, Memento, In the Mood for Love, Lost in La Mancha, 40 Year Old Virgin, Princess Bride, Monsoon Wedding, High Fidelity, Singles, Don Juan DeMarco, The Danish Poet, Little Miss Sunshine, Stranger than Fiction, Kinky Boots, Impromptu, 8 Mile, Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, Enchanted April, Pirates of the Caribbean.
In general, what I do like: thinking movies that show the true complexity of human character and interactions. They don't have to be dead serious, just real. And sometimes comedies do this best. I mean, really, we are kind of funny sometimes.
What I don't like: gratuitous violence, horror and brutality. I am a sensitive person and know there is a lot of evil out there. I don't care to pay to witness more of it.

Television:

Entourage, Ugly Betty, Weeds, Studio 60, Sex in the City, Boston Legal.

Books:

The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini), Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies (Jared Diamond), The Color of Magic (Terry Pratchett), The Success Principles (Jack Canfield), Enders Game (Orson Scott Card), The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature (Steven Pinker), The Law of Attraction (Michael J. Losier), Freakanomics (Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner), Unfinished Symphonies (Rosemary Brown).

Heroes:

All people willing to speak their dreams aloud and follow them. My parents.

fresh washed

Wash my face a while back and happen to glance at myself in the back mirror of the bathroom. A surprising wave of happiness came over me, and I realized I was glad to see that clean face, complete wit...

Period music video with personality

This video is awesome. I always loved their live, bungee jumping one, but this is even better. They must just love kinetic energy. The lyrics tickle me too. Thanks to Jon O. ...

Thank you Masked Man!

Oh man, I saw this video in the 80's and loved it. "Thank you Masked Man" was a code phrase between all of my friends for years. Just a warning, it is politically incorrect and offensive. ...

Heck yeah

I find it hilarious how much guys dig Ari. He is the 'him' they think they are in their minds, but never speak. Funny thing is that people are not so cool into meeting an Ari. I've been a similar ...

So I'm up in Brainerd today, covering for a colleague who is on vacation. It also happens to be the only clinic I have not been to in my career at this company. Wheee, nothing is left in the great u...
