About Me

I have a plan for everything, but not necessarily any idea of how any of it matters… I can be a mentor, friend, and teacher of others, yet I am sometimes also naïve, headstrong, and unable to provide any useful wisdom for myself. I am kind and loving, yet I can also a vindictive Old Testament hater confused about the usefulness of being able to forgive and tolerate... I am a linear and logical, but I am also abstract, poetic, and impulsive. I am a skeptic, yet my faith in truth, happiness, and love is so strong that I immediately get carried away on hope and put myself out on a limb when I discover something that should be beautiful.

Much of my life has been rural and laid back, growing up in a series of small towns near woods, water, animals, and insects. I went to college in a somewhat larger (but still small) town near corn, cottonwood trees, an ever-flooding river, and old brick buildings. I became a writer. I fell in love, died, and was buried. I moved away to Oregon, where my world became increasingly urban. I returned to Minnesota, lived in Uptown forever (seeking friends and exciting love), bought a Minneapolis house 500 feet from St. Paul and near the Mississippi River(seeking peace and permanence), and finished a Master's degree at the University. I fell in love, died, and was buried again.
Oh, and then I dug myself out from the earth and took a long hot shower.
