About Me
After approximately 15 years incarcerated, since 2/9/92, the Brooklyn, NY rapper, Jaime Davidson, Se (aka GRINGO), crowned by the people as THE KING OF REGGAETON, has finally risen to set the record straight. Gringo's foot prints have been firmly engraved in this culture, but the people that control the voice of the Reggaeton genre want to erase influence, and with that, vehemently refuse to acknowledge Gringo's existence and contribution! Gringo was born and raised in Panama, then at the age of 10 1/2 yrs old, his parents flew him and his brother to Brooklyn, NY. Gringo's hit records were recorded in 1991-92, so don't believe that hype, "REGGATON WAS NOT ORIGINATED IN PUERTO RICO," for the last time. Nothing has been done today in the world of the Reggaeton genre by all these new and upcoming producers, DJs and artists, etc., is new to Gringo, he's been there, and has done all of that already, and ever more...
Most importantly, the whole world "MUST!" know that without Gringo's presence, there wouldn't have been a Regaaton Culture, for this new generation. And, believe it or not, without Gringo, there wouldn't have been a Daddy Yankee with:Gasolina or Rompe etc.; Don Omar with:Dale Don Dale; Shakira with:Tortura and My Hips Don't Lie; and producers financially benefitin from the beats today like: Loony-Tune, DJ Nelson and Hector "EL Father," etc., just to name a few. For the record, if you didn't know, then you are going to find out that, Daddy Yankee's big hit, "GASOLINA," actually derives from one of Gringo's big hits titled, "DONDE LO CONSEGUISTE" (in english "WHERE YOU GET IT FROM"). Gringo's First hit, "TRAILER LLENO DE GUIALES" beat (that has been carrying the genere for the 14+ years he has been in prison), also introduced Puerto Rico to the Panamanian slang for girl and girls ( which is guial/gal and/or guiales/gales).
In Brooklyn, New York (Flatbush Area), Gringo's Reggae Dancehall sound system was well know as, 'BABYQUAKE HI-POWER," coined by the people (while representing said area), "THE SOUND WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRLS." Today, Gringo has laid that name to rest (BABYQUAKE, "RIP"), and renamed it to, "DA PHOENIX." Because, it symbolically represents how certain people have tried to destroy or evern burn Gringo's connection to the original of Reggaeton, and how, lik "DA PHOENIX," Gringo has risen from the ashes (BEHIND THE WALLS OF THE FEDERAL PENITENTIARY),to make Reggaeton immortal!!!!
"GRINGO THE ORIGINAL FOUND OF THE REGGAETON CULTURE"
PRETENDERS TO THE REGGAETON THRONE"
First thing is first, who died and left anyone of them, "Yankee and Omar" king? Who passed doen the king's scepter to them? Do anyone of them, even know the true history of the Reggaeton Culture in history that neither one of them have earned yet, they should be concentrating on establishing this culture's longevity for our youth of tomorrow. Why do you think, I only refer to them as Yankee and Omar?...
I respect Tego Calderon for being himself and most importantly, being a humble man first, then an artist. I really liked his response in your interview. I recognize and respect realness; I see that in Tego. I hate to say thism, but i fYankee and Omar don't humble themselves (or get their acts together), the will end up being another "2Pac and Biggie" tragedy for the Reggaeton Culture. I have to stress this fact, instead of trying to teach the youths and opening new doors for other artists, they want to be gansters...that said!!!
One would think that both of them learned from "Tempo's" incarceratiion. But, actions speak louder than words! "Yankee, Omar, both of you were once friends, canel that frivolous beef. Your fans (the public), wish to see both of you on stage (at the same time), like the good old days. I want to see that too, because it would contribute to the Reggaeton Culture's longevity."
Who am I to talk that way? Gringo, the "ORIGINAL FOUNDER OF THE REGGAETON CULTURE." Trace the origin of the Reggaeton beats and you will see my name, Gringo, with hits like: 1. Trailer Lleno de Guiales; 2. Donde Lo Conseguiste; 3. Rama Yama; 4. Pasaporte Pa Mi Canon; and 5. Vengo Caliente (from my singer, Tito).
