I always conceived music as a noble art moving the depth of our souls, an instrument to convey emotions, happiness, pains, aspirations and everything you cannot explain with words and pictures. To me, music is an expression of a divine reality (sacred music). With this intention, still a child, I approached this wondrous world, yet to be discovered.
My travel began when I was 4 years old, back in 1979, when my father brought home a small organ he had repaired for me. He taught me the first notes on the keyboard. My passion for music was unstable yet very big, and when I reached 10 I became a lover of classical music; Beethoven and Bach were my favourite composers, and I particularly liked Gregorian chants. My little hands tried to play tiny fragments of big music. I felt very attracted by pipe organ, a great instrument I have had the chance to play quite often.
When I was 14, I decided to take piano lessons to improve my technique. I learnt piano from Andrea Panzani, a great classical pianist who gave me the preparation I needed to pass the exams at the Italian Conservatory. In the meantime, I began to play pop music, too; to me, this was a very interesting parallel world. So, I began to play with many rock bands and musical companies. I directed quite a number of choirs and played saxophone. In my spare time, I composed many songs and soundtracks.
After a while, I grew quite bored of it all: I felt the urgency of making new experiences, of getting in touch with the really professional musical world. In 1996, I happened to know a nice guy, Aleandro Baldi, an Italian singer. He advised me to take lessons from a very well-known Italian musician, Walter Savelli. He was my teacher for 6 years and, through him, I met many experienced musicians, real pros. That was a great period, full of artistic experiences with rock groups, singers, gospel choirs etc.
In 1997, I began to play with "Il Banchetto" , a cover band, big fans of The Beatles, Lucio Battisti, Fabrizio De André and many others. They’re great musicians, good friends and nice colleagues in prestigious shows. This collaboration is still alive and kicking. From 1997 through 2002, I played with many other bands, too. I’ll never forget the experience with DustnDiesel, dear friends with whom I shared music played in very amusing places, from Piazza della Signoria in Florence to countryfields. Also, I’ll never forget when I played and directed “Jesus Christ Superstar†for a theatrical company: a great experience that really changed me. From 2002 through 2007, a new meeting, Biofonia . A great group, both musically and affectively.
Now it’s time to write new pieces and songs. I will upload them on this site… Hope you’ll enjoy them!!!
Have a good time!! ;-)
