About Me

Darkspace GraphicsMaia started performing with SAF Music And Drama Company in 2002. the following year, she started singing with her first band at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore. On one of the gigs, she got spotted by the local techno trio 'The Usual Suspects'. After the first successful recording with TUS (China Girl), she recorded more songs of which hit 1 on the airwaves (Sunburn, The Love You Promised).
In 2004, they released an album titled Oriental Love. The Love You Promised did really well - it received airplay and hit the charts in Europe and in countries as far as Scandinavia. Cascada later did a remix for TLUP.
Later that year, Maia took part in Singapore Idol, and though she didn't emerge the winner, she was offered a recording contract with EQ Music. Her debut solo album Emotionally Advised, was released in 2005.
She has since performed in countries like China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Dubai.
Known for her wit and aggressiveness, Maia was crowned FHM's Most Outspoken Babe in 2005.
She was also offered a fortnightly column in The New Paper (2005-2006), in which she interviewed both local and international artistes and celebrities, often grilling them.
Maia is now a star blogger with The Straits Times (STOMP), and interacts with members of the public, online every Wednesday. In one of the recent posts, she created a stir when she came out as a pansexual and revealed details of her personal life and a past relationship with another woman. In which, Maia doesn't see a big deal out of. She speaks up and speaks out for homosexuals and equality.
