About Me

..http://www.snapvine.com/gadget/choose_skin?key=ms Get Your Own Voice Player ManageI,ve been playing trombone since the age of 11. Music has given me the gift of expression. There is a saying that I remember from my college days;"You can live 7 lifetimes and STILL not know everything about music." There is SO much music that is always evolving in this world that it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep up.

I have performed with many musical groups of different ethnic origins; Salsa, merengue, Hatian "Compa", R&B, Gospel music in 2 genres(Salsa & R&B)Rock, Funk& Classical.I have performed with Willie Colon, Frankie Ruiz, Ruben Blades, Hector Lavoe, Marc Anthony, Ricardo Arjona on the "Galeria Caribe " tour in 2001, Michael Stuart, Tito Nieves, Ray Sepulveda, Johnny Rivera, Jose Alberto "El Canario", Santiago Ceron; basically every "Salsa" artist that has passed through New York City.I have been musical director for Willie Colon, Frankie Ruiz, Edgar Joel,to name a few. I am now the musical director of the Lebron Brothers. I wish to pass along my knowledge of these musical expressions to whomever would like to learn. I have learned from the best such as Willie Colon, The Lebron Brothers,Ricardo Arjona, Steve Turre, Wayne Shorter, Woody Shaw just to name a few. Outside of music, baseball has always been another passion in my life. As a young kid growing up in the Bronx, baseball was another form of expression for me. If it was'nt for music, I probably would have tried to ensue my life in baseball. I remember playing baseball everday after school playing baseball until 10 or 11 p.m. or until my mother pulled me by my ear all the way home. I love reading books, going to the theater, seeing and collecting DVDs and basically meeting new and interesting people that may have something to offer me as I hope I can offer them. I have performed with many well known artists. I think that I may have some knowledge to offer our children; our future; our legacies. Music is like baseball. When you play well, it inspires and helps people cope with what can be a very hard and cruel world...Right now, as I mentioned before, I am the musical director of the Lebron Brothers. I have been with them for almost 20 years.I consider all of them my family. We are about to celebrate 40 years of their musical existence. We all hope to see you at one of our performances. Que vive la musica latina. As of late, I have been producing the new CD of the hot musical group "ClaraSalsa". Also I've been working with the artist Edwin Lebron(no relation to the Lebron brothers). My Interests

I guess my main interest professionally is to be recognized for I have done and what I'm trying to accomplish as a musician/arranger/producer & be given the opportunity to do so. I would like to run my own recording studio as well. I would like to venture into musical realms that would be an absolute challenge. As a father is to give all of me that I possess so that my children may have the assets to have a prosperous and productive future. Unfortunately there are many people that try to take advatage of people like me who have the talent. I feel sorry for them. I wish to teach the future generations what I have learned so that they can smell a vulture lurking around.Check out the future of percussionists. This is absolutely UNREAL!!

I'd like to meet:

Growing up in New York, I've met, interacted and even studied with many "Salsa" and Jazz artists.Steve Turre was my trombone teacher and mentor for many years. I've studied under Benny Powell as well. Leopoldo Pineda was quite a different teacher for me. He would'nt speak to me much. He would make a moña once and demanded that I pick up what was playing then harmonize it on the spot. That REALLY made me concentrate and learn how to listen to my immediate musical enviroments. I've studied harmonic arranging from Frank Foster and Jimmy Heath. I've studied scores of Jse Febles, one of the most influential arrangers of "SALSA MUSIC". There is SO much that I would like to learn and experience in music. One of the people that I would like to meet is Quincy Jones. Another one is Ray Santos. We have spoken over the phone, but I have yet to meet him. I finally got to met the great arranger, Luis Cruz backstage at the tribute for Ray Barretto at Lehman College. Here is one of my most favorite latin bassists and director of one the bands I most had the pleasure of playing with (Conjunto Libre) Andy Gonzalez. Check this out.
