ilker Aksungar was born in 1982. His first encounter with music occured in his uncle’s recording studio, Cemil Müzik Evi (Cemil’s Music House), which opened in 1983, and hosted many important DJ’s and musicians of our time. He began his DJ career in this recording Studio with help of DJ U.F.U.K who has been worked here for many years.
In December 2002, Ilker Aksungar joined a production training program called ‘Youth Workshop Project’ (Genç Atölye ) created by Hip Production, --i--li District and Human Resource Development Foundation, and inspired by ASFED Project in England. In April 2003, --lker made his first significant performance as a DJ within this project at World DJ Fund night’s Istanbul branch Jukebox, along with World’s and Turkey’s famous DJ’s. He also performed at famous Creamfields Festival that was held in Turkey for the first time that same year.
In 2004, he became a DJ trainer in Youth Workshop Project from which he graduated the previous year as one of the first alumni. And during the same period of time, he also worked with Murat Uncuo--lu in Burn & MTV DJ contest as a counselor to electronic music lovers and DJ-to-be’s in mobile studios at various universities all around Turkey while performing at tour’s Istanbul and Eski--ehir acts and hosting Lee Buridge, Pako & Frederick and Masters At Work. He continued working with Burn in 2004 Rock ‘n’ Coke Music Festival and again at Burn & MTV producer contest in 2005 while hosting Kosheen, Marco V, Benny Benassi and Carl Cox for Dance Heat Parties within the same organisation.
In winter 2006, --lker started performing in Blackk, one of the best clubs in Istanbul, as a resident DJ along with DJ Met and DJ U.F.U.K. He also performed for Coca Cola Sound Wave Tour in 13 different cities in Turkey. In 2007, he worked in Milo as a DJ, and in Ni--anta---- 37 as a music director. He performed in Turkey’s only electronic music festival Electronica Festival from 2005 to 2007. Also he’s been preparing his own radio show Kinetic Energy in Radio FG 93.7 since October 2005.
DJ U.F.U.K is the most important influence on --lker’s sound and technic. He adopted house music and alike sounds and mostly uses them in his DJ sets. Because music is a big part of --lker’s life he does not only show interest in electronic music but also keeps working on alternative sounds. Hiphop culture and rap music, which mainly caused --lker to start his music career, have also big influence on his sound, and he is working with Turkey’s best female rapper AYBEN and Turkey’s best rap star CEZA, who won 2007 MTV EMA best Turkish musician award, in their Turkey and international concerts, as well as the DJ in Fairuz Derin Bulut band which makes unarguably Turkey’s one of the most important and extraordinary alternative sounds. --lker, who performed in Ayben & Fairuz Derin Bulut Project at 2007 Rock ‘n’ Coke Festival’s alternative stage, is also working as a DJ and a producer in alternative sounds.
