I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a 42 year old dual career kind of girl. I work in distribution full-time and am a fitness professional part-time.In 2003, on my dad's 58th birthday, I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma insitu Breast Cancer. It was discovered in my baseline mammogram. One surgery (a surgical biopsy later referred to as a lumpectomy) and 25 radiation treatments later, my life became semi-normal again (I'm not quite normal to begin with :-) )In 2006, my Paul and I co-founded the organization Rockin' for a Reason; A Celebration of Life which raises money for breast cancer programs. In 2006, our first event netted $3200 with $1500 going to the local charity, The Inspiration for Hope Foundation, and $1200 going to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. In 2007, our event, Rocktoberfest netted $6000 with $3000 going to The Inspiration for Hope Foundation and $2000 going to the ACS. We're hoping for an even greater 2008 in celebration of my five year anniversary of being cancer free!!

My Interests

Fitness (of course), good books, great music and living life in general. It's short, so we'd better enjoy it while it's here!! (This was my pre-cancer philosophy, as well).

I'd like to meet:

Rex Grossman, quarterback for the Chicago Bears. HE ROCKS and has done so in his own way the past five years. GO BEARS!!

Music:

Wide variety of music interests including, but not limited to, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Audioslave, old Creed, Janis Joplin, Queen (the original) and genres ranging from Rock to Rock-A-Billy and old Blues to Soul - I like to keep an open mind (and I still think Chris Daughtry rocks).

Movies:

Favorite movie of all time - Gone With The Wind!! Prefer comedies and romances to horror and slasher flicks (HATE SLASHER FLICKS!!).

Television:

CSI (the original), House, Ghost Whisperer and Cold Case - I like to have to think in my television viewing. Chicago Bears football (when in season) - been a fan since I was this high. Only quit when McKaskey canned Ditka and threatened to move them to Gary, Indiana - once he was gone, I went back to being a fan (never changed teams, just didn't root for the bears - I'm no turncoat!!) GO BEARS!!

Books:

James Patterson The Third Degree, 4th of July, or the Fifth Horseman were all excellent. Love the Harry Potter series as well. Prefer mysteries (again, the thinking thing). Favorite classic Ethan Frome.

Heroes:

Everyone who has fought cancer, and won as well as those who have fought the brilliant battle, and lost!!BIGGEST hero - my dad!! Still a daddy's girl at heart :-)
