"SugahBrown" is a name born out of the old New Orleans. I would go to a few poetry spots: True Brew, Hard Rock cafe on wednesdays, that ol' Ebony Square an' that reggae joint ( with Ayana an' 'nem). Some of you know what I'm talkin' about. Anyway, I would go and listen and sometimes I would experience an extreme desire to participate, so I started to sing acapella on rare occasions. I did not play the guitar back then.Since the nature of my music has always been political and somewhat serious I chose the name "SugahBrown" to allude to a lighter and more comical side of me.,

Yeah, you can see the joke potential. On the other hand, sugah is meant to
bring to mind the natural, beautiful,and delicious nature of brown sugar.
This SugahBrown was born out of the creativity and beautiful artistry inherent in some of the forgotten ones in the old n'awlins before the aftermath of Katrina.
