About Me

Papa G ( also known as Pete Gibbens)has been playing the gtr for almost 15 years now ( as you can imagine his fingers are getting a little tired now....tee hee )and has been the lead guitarist in many bands from the North of England.....He has also worked as a gtr demo player demonstrating such guitars as Danelectro and Ovation.Papa G's songs are mostly acoustic with strong roots in rock, folk and a little blues....Check them out and drop me a line to say what you think!?!?!"I am obsessed (or is it posessed...not sure?!?!?!) .... I love guitars and I love music..... I love everything about playing guitar either acoustic solo stuff or electric full band rock.......... "Look forward to seeing you at the next gig......Maybe!?!?!?I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.1

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Papa G was originally just a solo artist, PG was roped into playing a gig at the County Arms to help out an Old friend.... since then PG has performed every month at the county...in the past PG has performed with Rusty Robinson (leeds based cello guru), and more recently PG has teamed up with the talented Tony Curzon... (Northallerton based guitar Legend...(in his own mind of course...))The Papa G recordings on the site are all written and performed by PeteIf you think you can add to these songs.... ie drummer/percussion just drop me a line and we can hook up...Bring on the bongos...If you can play come along to a gig...if you get up and play there may be free drinks involved........Thanks
Influences: Ben Harper, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, John Martyn, Bob Marley, Free, GnR, Aerosmith...we could be here somtime......!?!?!?!? its a long list!?!??!Infact any of the Guitar heros of the last 30 years..... Maybe even a little Clapton in really small doses.....
Sounds Like: My set was once described by a fellow musician as, and I quote...." it was like a rainbow dude...."" kind of like when you pick up a blue pen, draw something, then put it down and pick up another colour and this time its red, then same again but this time its green......."I must stress this guy was a bass player (you know who you are MARK) and I suspect that some kind of stimulant had been used that evening...perhaps just alcohol but who knows......Get to a gig and see for yourself..... or just check out the tunes......
