Where's my $12.50?

About Me

Thanks for visiting. My name is Patrick Porter, and I’m a songwriter and musician born and raised in Seattle. Explone is my music, and over the past few years I’ve had the gracious assistance of some excellent musicians, most notably John Merkel, Greg Garcia, Josh Williams and Kyle Stevens.
Back in 2004 I recorded the Crooks LP, which came out on the extremely exclusive (translation: tiny) indie label Hatcher Pass. You can purchase Crooks at my shows, at some of the cooler local stores or by mail. Crooks was made with lots of help from my producer pal Shawn Simmons, plus Josh Williams on the drums and Andrea Maxand on harmony vocals.
In 2006 I recorded three new songs, this time with a full band lineup including John Merkel on bass and Greg Garcia on drums. We then spent most of the Spring and summer playing a series of shows around Seattle. This was a great lineup and a lot of fun, but John had to move out of Seattle in the fall, and Greg moved on to some new projects.
This year I’ve decided to fly solo once more, and get cracking on my next record. Having a band was great, but at the moment I’m feeling the need to experiment and make my own mistakes. I’ll once again be soliciting Shawn’s assistance; I figure between he and I and our collection of stringed instruments and Macintosh computers, we ought to have most of what we need.
In addition to Explone, I play pedal steel and electric guitar in the band Red Jacket Mine with my friends Lincoln Barr, Andy Salzman and Ryan Chapman. You can look for our new record coming out in the fall. You can also catch me playing guitar, steel and bass on records by the following artists:
Andrew Norsworthy (Stateside, The Absentee EP, Horizon City)
Andrea Maxand (new record coming this fall)
Palomino (new record, taking longer than Chinese Democracy, hopefully out this fall)
All of these artists are well worth a listen and deserving of your support.
Thanks again for dropping by, and please visit my official website here for more detailed info, more songs, etc.
Cheers,
Patrick
